October 29, 200421 yr Well basically i am thinking of OCing my system, i decided that i have the looks, now i want the performance to match (trying for 6ghz here guys =D)Current specsChip AMD unlocked (=P) barton core 3200+CoreV: 1.696vMultiplier 11xFSB 200mhz (bus = 400)Core Temp ~40-50DegC under sustained load.Stock cooler, can you recomend?my Ram timings are CAS# 2.5RAS-CAS# delay 3RAS# Precharge 3, Tras timing 8 this is badish i know, due to be Upgraded soon.
October 29, 200421 yr I think the most important step in OC'ing is to overclock the keyboard. I do, and now I can beat anyone at anything. Sometimes if I get real tired, I push an electrified key and it even wakes me up. That's how cool it is.
October 29, 200421 yr Shotty look in that buyers guide. I've list the good socket A coolers that overclockers use to really push their cpu.Are you sure that 3200+ is unlocked?
October 29, 200421 yr only early 3200's were unlocked. go here to the heatsink section to choose a cooler you can get where you live. http://www.overclockers.com/articles1126/ goto the heatsink ranking link on this page. As far as overclocking. Just do it a step at a time. First go as far as you can with stock volts by increasing your FSB. Then raise your volts to make it stable. Keep your memory timings at 3,3,3,11 so the memory will not cause problems.
October 29, 200421 yr Author if i may ask, how unstable will the system be with mem timings as they are now?
October 29, 200421 yr The more bandwidth you try to push out of your memory the less stable it will be at low timings. Trial and error.
