First of all the m82 is the most unbalanced gun. giving it close to 100% accuracy while crouching is just plain stupid. For christ's sake the gun weighs 30 pounds... (my comments on the famas are said as though the m82 isn't in the game)

 

In 2.8 the m82 was perfect. When you were advancing you were at a big disadvantage but when you stopped and got the bipod down you were almost unstoppable.

 

In 2.9 the m82 can even own a famas in cqb, It happens all the time even to good players. The 2 shot kill combined with the "stop and shoot move" makes it to good.

 

Also, no one good even uses the bipod anymore because its easier to just move around and crouch shoot. The m82 is not ment for this kind of play.

 

On Caen I practiced with the m82 and ended up with a score of like 50 and 10 and I didn't use the scope once.

Very true. I believe with 3.0 that the unscoped accuracy for M82 will be cut down a lot, while the Famas appears to be unchanged. All SR unscoped accuracies are being cut down. Hopefully in 3.0 the bipod will be more effective...

agreed with all here. I am a sniper, hence the name, i use the ssg. When I get taken down by a famas single shot on the other side of a map i get pissed. There is no way a Assult rifle with 25 rounds should be able to out snipe a long barreld scoped gun. Its stupid.

Since when could just crouch and shoot with a long barreled gun and hit the target? :roll:

 

Listen, the famas depends on the skill of the player. Same with anygun in FA. FA is not about realizm, it was never inteded to be. Its a game people, there is a certain threshold of realizm and thats what makes the game fun.

 

For those who complain that they get outsniped by a famas, when they are on their belly with a scoped riffle, you sir need more skill. I've faced skilled players with a famas, ie [DIAL]Doc and i've died more times than i have killed him, why, its all about skill. How fast you aim to the head is your problem, its not the gun thats failing you its you. simple. Skilled players, with an assualt riffle or a sniper rifle can take out any skilled famas player. thats a fact.

 

If i were to face a new player with a famas hes one dead mother. Even if he tried to shoot in single shot against a rifle man, he would lose. He doesnt have the skill that it takes to shoot the famas in single fire.

 

I use the famas, i use it to warm up, i use it when i wanna kill(fast).

I also like to use other guns on certain maps. m16 for durandal or large maps, famas for small maps.

 

And i will end saying this, you get rid of the famas and people are gonna find another gun to complain about. There has to be a limit and this is it people, the game is taking its last breaths no use now complaining about it. Disscussion about is fine, but complaing about it to get rid of it i think is not.

well just some famas facts. first off i have done the entire weapon value list (accuracy, damage, multipliers, rof, and everything else) for FA since 2.8. i have always with the help of all the testers and the fa team tried to keep a very clear balance in FA. i feel i have done that. the famas has always been a top weapon for a few reasons. first off alot of players use the gun because ever since around 2.4-2.5 the top names in the game used the famas. it gained alot of recognition (alot undeserved) and gained this idea of being the best gun. i personally dont feel it is the best nor i have ever designed the value sheet to reflect this. i think the major thing that makes hte famas a popular gun is the rof. that is why in 2.7 the famas rof went from 1100 to 900. currently the uzi and the sterling have greater rof than the famas. most people shoot from 1-5 feet away which makes the famas very easy to kill with. when you start to play matches and get away from pub games you realize that most battles take place at medium to long range and the famas, while able to hold its own, is clearly not the most valuable gun. often in matches the person using the famas does not have the top score.current values for the 2.9 famas is an rof of 900, an accuracy of 11 (tied with ak47 and only higher than the m4 in the ar class which is 12), a damage value of 35 (tied for lowest in the ar class with the m4, g36 is next with 37), and currently has the highest recoil amount of any ar by far. in 3.0 the gun is not changing at all. all the guns in 3.0 received a 25% increase in accuracy making hte game alot like 2.5 was. remember, this accuracy increase is across the board. with a few changes in damage and armor values the famas is still a solid gun in 3.0 but cannot compete with other ar's, especially the g3 and the ak 47. i understand people will always bitch about the famas and in some ways i can see why. but what people really need to understand is that the famas has been already nerfed so many times over. the people who own with the gun will always own with it no matter what you do with it. they are also the same people that will own with any gun. i have always said and still know the 100% truth of this statement in FA, its the player not the gun. the best players will always win no matter what gun is used.

exactly, even if it has the highest recoil it doesn't seem like it. At medium range I can put my crosshair on their head, burst 10 -15 shots, and I have a kill.

 

Like I said before I think the famas is pretty well balanced in a full game where reloading gets you killed but in a 1 on 1 fight I'd take the famas anyday.

 

I agree with sgoss that good famas players can own with any gun but I doubt those same people can have the huge k/d ratio and kpm they have when using some other gun.

 

The ak-74 and m4 are both great but if I turn a corner and run into a good player using a famas I'm going down.

 

All things being said, the famas doesn't bother me, but the m82 just pisses me off.

Think about what you say before you say it. Look at the kill to death ratio of famas users. Its easily way higher than most players. The other ARs in FA are much more specialised, whereas the FAMAS can snipe from long distance and spray and pray better than the MGs.

... People cap and use the famas. Their score goes up. obviously it's the fact that the famas is being used. I don't think this is the case, at all. In the majority of the games i've played on TAC and elsewhere, someone will get a great K:D, and then switch to the famas. Or will already have had a good K:D and then switch to the famas. The people that is ee that use and keep using the famas are usually the better players of the game. They've also got good ratios using the m4; the m16; the m14; ak74, and other guns. I think that the majority of the people here are going "yeah! Well, i see a couple of people have really good K:D's with the famas at one point - obviously they've used it the entire time to get the K:D!!"

i have neever seen anyone switch to the FAMAS after alreayd getting a good score, that doesnt make any sense, no, it is the gun, i usually suck at close ranges in shooting games, one of the reasons i usually snipe, and im also bad because i usually snipe, it kidna feeds off each other :-P, but i have consistently done well at close and long ranges with ONLY the famas

im looking forward to this damage increase stuffand i dont think the famas is the problembut i will say that if i was playing against myself and one of me had a famas and the other had an m4, the m4 me would win bec i am fairly well adjusted to using itthe thing that angers me about the famas would be reload time and no lag when switching fire modes(and a higher rof when in singleshot mode?)but i dont know about that just seems that way

Well, there really isn't any armor out there that's truly effective against rifle bullets. Plus, the extra body armor makes people try for headshots too much. In real life, you aim for center of mass.
