No man, that's completly false. The only reason the street date has been broken is because they're already selling it in other countries. Don't spread rumors man.

How come you guys dont have it? I downloaded it from steam yesterday morning.

it doesn't even matter that the street date is broken because you need to activate it online to be able to play, so i personally don't see what the problem is 8)

tek, you "have it", as do I, we can't actually play it until valve says so.

and for those of you who think that because valve said they would release it early if the street date was broken, well, valve says a lot of things

Even if we were to get HL2 a day or two earlier, we would still have to wait till the 16th to authenticate it online, to be able to actually play the game! Still, I wouldn't mind having it in my hands... *Drools*Becca

There are several ppl who indeed claim they were able to buy HL2 in stores. However, those stores broke the streetdate, not Valve. So it comes down to stores selling a game which you can't play right now. We all will have to wait untill the 15th/16th, thanks to steam (the game requires online registration by steam before one can play it). In the steam forums several people whine about not being able to play the boxed version, but the general opinion is: whine at your store, as they broke the agreement on the release date.Now on the subject of Valve releasing it earlier when the streetdate was broken.... there is only one written statement like that. And it's not made by Valve, but some reporter of an article. So i wouldn't bet my money on Valve releasing it earlier. Due to the instalation/activation of HL2 (be it boxed or steam edition) it is not possible to play it before the dateand time set by valve (unless someone hacks a steam server).

why you say 15/16? is it comin out on the 15 to anybodys knowledge?-G
