November 19, 200420 yr The first time I pre-loaded HL2 and it download without a problem. Now It just says updating but it won't finish downloading.Anyone know how to fix this. Can I preload it again somehow?
November 19, 200420 yr Author sigh...It still won't finish downloading.how do I email steam support. I seriously can't find the e-mail address.
November 19, 200420 yr um...try pausing and unpausing. Clicking cancel and starting it again (without restarting steam) or restarting steam and restarting the download. Also, don't try at peak hours when loads of people would be on.
November 19, 200420 yr Author I tried last night from 10-2am I'm at 7% right now, if it stops again I'll try what you said.it doesn't show a pause option though.
November 20, 200420 yr Yeah, if you have some of it downloaded, and it fubar's or something, then "download" it again, you'll "download" at 1-100mb/s until it catches up. But yeah, I'm averaging 700kps+ on steam. I have a screenie of like 1.2 or something kicking around.
November 21, 200420 yr Author Ok im at 57% now now and I just discovered that I have to keep telling the steam to keep this game updated under the properties tab. That is really wierd, even though it set to keep updated I still have to reselect update for it to keep going.ffs, no onew else is having this problem?Anyone willing to host their .cfg files so I can download them.I don't think it is illegal, think!
November 21, 200420 yr and THIS is why i bought it retail. plus my connection sucks. i would if my connection was better-G
November 21, 200420 yr I got the retail version, but it's a hassle to have the cd in all the time (borrowing a dvd-rom). If I uninstall it and open steam, register my cd key, will it download through steam or do I really really have to use the cd?
November 21, 200420 yr it doesnt take that long to try... if that means being w/o half life for a day.. o well. :/ try and see-G
November 21, 200420 yr I'd never pay to download a game.. get the cd's man.. What..? This is so much more simple. If I could have everygame I owned on a network like Steam, I'd be thrilled! No more losing CD-Keys, or CDs. Not ever having a problem with anyone borrowing/using my cd-key. That would be so simple. Steam is a great idea, I love it. It just sucks if your connection sucks.
November 21, 200420 yr If all else fails, reinstall steam, then re-dl BEWARE this is a HUGE DL (3.6gig for hl2, 2.9 for hls and 1.8 for CSsource) its alot
