Did Valve release warez trap version?

 

Users in our gaming forum discuss rumors circulating that Valve Software intentionally released a "warez" version of Half-Life 2. When a user tries to connect to the mandatory Steam activation service with it, it allegedly terminates the account. No confirmation on this yet, though Guru3D has a supposed quote from Gabe Newell of Valve: "We're running a bit of an experiment. We're keeping track of the accounts that do this and will be shutting them off."
