I have a gigabyte mobo that supports 8 channel surround sound.I want to get surround sound. I'm currently looking at a creative 7.1 set for $99.99That should work directly with my mobo right?

    Yes it should. It just means you have to configure your outputs to the proper jacks in the back. Find room for the speakers to be placed and then calibrate them.
