I am curious, Rancid Meat, helped me out with this but i am still curoius, lol, when i started playing fire arms on my brand new spanking computer, the game runs well till firefights, and the FPS DROPS dramtically like its all choppy and poppy and all that happy stuff, then rm helped me out, and the fa29 logs, i was suppose to make them read only, so i did, and the game runs fast...lol why is this? just the touch of some logs then playmo! it works? I am a curious cat u know =D
Mazor added this file but later he forgot to delete it... It just 'remembers' every single bullet on every single map. That's why a game is choking

Fix for the insane LAG while shooting Thursday, June 17, 2004

This fix was brought to my attention by OCJ. Ever seen the insane amount of lag during gunfire or during gun battles? Of course you have, its especially horrible in the latest 2.9 patch.

Well, thankfully, there's a fix for it. All you have to do is go into your root C drive (C:\) and look two files called fa29.log and fa29.txt. Select both of those files by dragging over top of them and right click on one of the files and check the 'Read Only' box.

The reason the lag is bad when these files are writable is because during every gunshot, there are coordinates being written to these two files for debugging purposes. I was in a hurry and forgot to remove the code which places the text in those files. If you feel so inclined, you may open one up with a text editor if you wish. There's really no useful information contained in them. They are just the beginning and ending coordinates of each bullet.
