January 19, 200521 yr Two days ago I had some trouble with Internet explorer. It seems when I click the shortcut on the desktop, it will take about 40-60 seconds for IE to open. I'm not sure why. I have scanned for viruses, tried AdAware. Fragmented, Cleaned out the cookies and deleted files. Anyone have any ideas here? -Sam.Gen. ALL IRRELEVANT POSTS WILL BE DELETED. (Go away Fire-Fox users.)
January 19, 200521 yr i had a problem like this way back in the day. except alot worse (IE comes up 20 min later) make sure u have plenty of free space
January 19, 200521 yr If you have already tried Adaware, try Spybot as well. They both work great together and really clean your system up. You could also just uninstall IE and reinstall it. Just backup your favorites. Can I ask just one question though? Why do you not like Firefox? That's all I want to know.
January 20, 200521 yr Author It's just IE. I'll try Spybot. I'm not sure how to uninstall IE. Maybe you can explain it to me. It's not that I don't like FF, it's just it's no use to tell me, "Just get FF it's way bettar EL OH EL!" And that be someones post to try to help.

January 20, 200521 yr I'm not sure how to uninstall IE. Maybe you can explain it to me. Microsoft can explain it for ya http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378/EN-US/ I myself use FireFox and Mozilla Thunderbird for email. Why? Simplicity of use. With Firefox you get tabbed browsing instead of opening up a new window for each link. A built in google seach bar located in the upper right hand corner tucked away. Easy to use security features, easy to manage bookmarks plus you can add bookmarks to your toolbar. If you do download Firefox and install it, during installation it will ask you if you want to import your bookmarks from IE. Mozilla Thunderbird will also ask to import your emails for you as well. After using IE since I got into PC's back in 97 all the way to 2003, I prefer FireFox 100X over IE and OE. If you do decide to use either of these applications feel free to PM me, email me anyttime for questions.
January 20, 200521 yr Opera all the way. Sam, if IE still wont work right after you reinstall it and whatnot, just get one of the programs people have suggested. I use Opera. From what DH said it is about the same as Fire Fox, but you can right click and drag to go back and forth through pages too. A lot better than pressin the back button. Good louck.
January 20, 200521 yr Use Jiga's link to repair the installation. Sneaky, you can get mouse gestures with FireFox as well, you just have to download a plugin. Don't forget about Maxthon (Gator pointed this one out a few months ago). It renders web page using IE, but adds tabbed browsing and a bunch of new features.
January 20, 200521 yr I use Mozilla, much better than IE which has caused me many problems in the past.
