Posted January 24, 200520 yr Ok, I have to write a research paper on a short story for my Honors English class. I can pick any short story. Dont really wanna do a Poe story, just did one of those. Anyone got any suggestions? If you do, please give me the name of the story, author (if you remember), and what its about (as short or long of a description as you want). If you don't have a suggestion, please don't post here. Thanks.
January 24, 200520 yr "The Destructors" By Graham Green, "War Prayer" by Mark Twain, "A Bear Hunt" by William Faulkner I'm sure I could think of more but here's a few off the top of my head. Edit: Since you didn't say how short I'll throw in "The Unknown Citizen" by W. H. Auden (just because I really like it).
January 25, 200520 yr Author I really dont know how short either. It is a type of fictional work. There are Novels and Short Stories. She talks about the Destructors all the time.

She talks about the Destructors all the time, I dont really wanna do it because then she will know if I did one little thing wrong. Somebody asked her in class how long it could be....she gave some wierd answer that didnt even come close to answering the question. Ooops, double post. My bad.
January 25, 200520 yr "Clifford the Big Red Dog" seriously though, i'd recommend something like "To Kill a Mockingbird" if you haven't read it and are in to that sort of thing
January 25, 200520 yr Oh if you don't mind reading you could chose a shorter work like "The Death of Ivan Ilyich" by Leo Tolstoy, "The Stranger" by Albert Camus, or "Candide" by Voltaire.
January 25, 200520 yr sorry if it was too long, yeah it is a novel, i wasn't sure how short you wanted it

January 25, 200520 yr Teachers love Hemingway. The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber When writing a paper on this story the main focus should be on the characters. Concentrate on Macomber's presence, and how he carries himself. As the story progresses, notice the differences in his demeanor and in his actions during the ensuing hunts. Also take note of the attitudes and actions of Wilson and Macomber's wife. And as a more generalized comparison (which may not be on topic to this paper), Hemingway has always written his protagonists as somewhat heroic, strong characters - something that he greatly strays from in this writing. Hopefully I've given you enough to start with, if you find this interesting. Find it here
