February 17, 200521 yr I need lessons! I'm a ground pounder at heart but I do love to fly the planes and choppers. I can do somewhat decent but when I watch gator sit there and hover/spin/strafe in the choppers it just amazes me. I wanna be, I wanna be like Gator I think the most trouble I have is with the planes. I have a really hard time strafing ground targets. Air targets aren't that bad. In Desert Combat I have no problem at all flying the choppers. I can take a blackhawk and do a barrel roll in the thing. I can use a little bird and take down an F-16. The chopper flight model just seems so much more "loose" in DC compared to BFV in my opinion. So, if anybody is up for it tonight, feel like having a chopper/plane class? I guess we can find an empty server and jump right in. Also, the BFV stats. Does it require you to have 12 hours of gameplay before it starts recording you? I went by the site but saw nowhere to sign up and there isn't a FAQ. *EDIT* Oh ya, is there anyway to extract the music from BFV?
February 17, 200521 yr since no response to you yet, i'll do it. i too noticed more difficulty flying in bfv then the other. not sure why. i switched to keyboard control in bfv. easier, especially with choppers. maybe increased data flow in bfv needs faster net and pc speed ? i have analog joystick so maybe that prob.
February 17, 200521 yr Speaking of flight school ... there's nohing like the real thing ... especially for ultra lights ... those aluminum tube and fabric open style planes with tiny motors, rotor behind you and wings, flaps, tail/rudder, stall speed of only 13 mph. lol, unlucky 13  cost only around $200 for few classes then about 10 hrs in 2 seater trainer, 2 hrs solo and you have license. close to feeling like a true birdbrain with wind in your face, especially when you turn motor off for required glide landing, wo hoo  mine was such a rush ... on final approach, 100 ' up, about 300' out from flat grass runway, shut off loud motor ... just the sound and feel of the air ... stick forward to keep speed safe ... bleeding speed over runway pulling back stick then forward bit ... leveling slowly down on runway ... trying to stay just above stall speed til sure wheels down ... half way down i still concentrating forward and on speed, bleeding, downing ... turned out teacher watching from ground told me i was on runway before halfway point despite my "bleeding" and sweating almost to end of runway before i realized and took my attention off gauges and forward view that i was already on ground ... ... so smooth a touchdown i didn't realize ... was waiting for the slight bump when i would push stick and left/right my tail to slow more ... guess iwas worried i would overshoot and have to apply full power to liftoff and go around again :o ps: shultz mentioned Admiral Gator has experience in real aircraft. I guess he can relate to the above feelings eh GATOR ? Ever tried ultralights or gliding ?
