February 19, 200521 yr G and my self were at odd's a bout this issue.plz help us reveal the answer. :o
February 19, 200521 yr well this is easy I use the arrow keys, it's much better to me because I don't have to worry about hitting the wrong button and not being able to move or something. All the keys I need are around the arrow keys, for quick and easy access. :o Plus it gives me more mouse space, cause I have my keyboard on a angle giving the extra room to move the mouse around. So arrow keys all the way, baby.
February 19, 200521 yr wsad...just because it means i can isolate that hand to that part of the keyboard and my thumb on jump while my pinky hits the shift, ctrl, alt, tab and capslock when needed....2nd finger hits qaz, middle hits edc and 4th hits edc and whatever i need next to them.
February 19, 200521 yr Not saying I am a great gamer but I believe if you ask the great players this is what they would use. ARROW KEYS. I'm talkin' the pros like in Japan or whatever. I use arrow keys too btw.
February 19, 200521 yr i use esdf that leaves me lots of buttons to use, and i can also use my 5 mouse buttons :o It also lets me select a number key very fast. And i can feel if i am on the wrong buttons becouse the F key has a little bump
February 19, 200521 yr I really dont see how using arrow keys works.....but I guess that is because I never use the arrow keys. I was raised usin WASD.....I dont really think that it affects performance at all (Klink), it is just what you are comfortable with. Just my 2 cents. (decepticon, been playin Tribes 2? :o )
February 19, 200521 yr Arrows and 5 button mouse. Cntrl, shift, enter, del, end, home, pgdwn, Keypads: #7, #4, #1, #5, 0 are all bound.
February 19, 200521 yr Arrows and 5 button mouse. Cntrl, shift, enter, del, end, home, pgdwn, Keypads: #7, #4, #1, #5, 0 are all bound. those are the buttons I use around the arrow keys, I don't have a 5 button mouse, not yet anyways
February 19, 200521 yr I used to use Cursors for all games. But as i grew more and more obese it was harder (more uncomfortable) to have left hand over stomach using Cursors and right hand on mouse. So i switched to WSAD. And im not complaining.
February 19, 200521 yr w,a,s,d for me... and klink, the only reason those gamers might be good is because they have been playing for a long time... it seems that older gamers use the arrow keys, that is what it seems like anyway.
February 20, 200521 yr im sooo confused....how do you use the arrow keys and a mouse?! i mean how do you reach that far and still kill? :? i use wasd for all games i play, except for ones where there isnt an option of them. maybe they just use left handed keyboards or whatever (if there is a such thing as a left handed keyboard)
February 20, 200521 yr Arrows and 5 button mouse. Cntrl, shift, enter, del, end, home, pgdwn, Keypads: #7, #4, #1, #5, 0 are all bound. I use the same set up as you. I can't see how you could use the letter keys, one quick slip of the finger and you could get killed. Arrow Keys for the WIN!!! Mr
February 20, 200521 yr Author well i too use arrow keys, but G uses the w,a,s,d.and my guess was that it would be half and half.and right now it is 50/50 exactly.
February 20, 200521 yr wsad for the win. I use wsad because I can use more letters for the controls. like prone, radio, treat, reload, use, use previous weapon, change fire mode, bandage, crouch, jump and all of that is around my WSAD keys. The arrow keys suck. You have to like use your pinky to reach for everything and there are no controls close to it. I used to use arrow keys in Unreal Tournament couple of years back. that's only cuz I got used to it and never even knew about WSAD back then :o and cuz there weren't many controls in UT.
February 20, 200521 yr w,a,s,d for me... and klink, the only reason those gamers might be good is because they have been playing for a long time... it seems that older gamers use the arrow keys, that is what it seems like anyway. yes cow that might be it seriously I noticed that too but didn't think much of it. LOL. SteveO what do you mean how can you reach keys? you bind the keys near the arrows with the functions you need. Right hand on the mouse and left on the keys. Del = use End = sprint ctrl = jump shift = req arty enter = reload page down = prone 0 on num pad = heal and so on wheel on mouse switch wep modes M1 = fire M2 = crouch
February 20, 200521 yr ill just copy my whole config. or most of it. bind "TAB" "+showscores" bind "ENTER" "+use" bind "ESCAPE" "cancelselect" bind "SPACE" "+jump" bind "'" "+voicerecord" bind "+" "sizeup" bind "," "useskill reqart" bind "-" "voice medic" bind "." February 20, 200521 yr Arrows I have more then enough keys around them (ctrl, shift, enter, del, ins, end, home, pgdwn, pgup, 0, 1, 4, 7, numlok) It allows me to keep hands and arms spread the right distance apart for maximum aiming presicion (using WASD leaves both thands too far apart). and by sliding the keyboard to the left, I get more space for rapid mouse movements. But whatever works, right? :o
February 20, 200521 yr klink im still confused....how do you reach all those keys? and besides im right handed(idk maybe you are too) but for me its just uncomfortable to use the arrows in the position they are.
February 20, 200521 yr I see how you can do arrow keys if you just move the keyboard over, but I am just gonna stick with my beloved WASD keys. Neither config is better than the other for everyone, it is just personal preference.....I would probably be using the arrow keys these days if I hadn't gone to my friend/neighbor's house to watch him play games every day. I used arrows back when I played a little game called Red Baron.....when I was 5 years old :o
