Installing custom sounds

Featured Replies

I just found out a little while ago how to put your own weapon sounds in the game, I think.

First, go to your CSS folder, then open the sound folder, then make a folder called "weapons", then make a folder named after whatever gun you want to replace the sound of (such as "awp", or "ak47"). The folder has to use the same name of the gun as the console says in game when you kill someone with it, not the colloquial name. Then, in that folder with the weapon name, you put in whatever .wav file you want as the firing sound and rename the file as "ak47-1.wav", or whatever gun it is you're replacing. You don't put the ""'s in though, if that wasn't obvious.

And that should be it. I used it to replace the regular ak47 with the FA ak47. I also replaced the awp with the M82 and the elites with the 1911. I think you can use any wave file as the firing sound, but I'm not sure. I just used FA sounds cause I liked them. You could have your M249 fire out Bjork music probably, but I haven't tested that.

Also, if you want to change the unsilenced sound for the M4 and USP, you have to name the file m4a1_unsil-1.wav, m4a1-1 and usp-1 are for the silenced shots.

I hope that made since and helped someone. If you want me to clarify then please post something. If you could explain how to do all that better then that'd be nice too. I'm pretty sure you could replace all the sounds that way, but I don't know what you'd have to name the folders and files and all that, so if anyone knows more about that, I'd like to hear it.
