wow that is kind of creepy. I hope this isnt a sign of things to come, this guy was a pretty close confidant of JP II.
I don't know man.. he's German.. I think this is the start of another Facist Reign..it's all part of their secret plan to come back into power..

One of my friends said that that guy was part of the Nazi Youth :sorry:

Now I dont know where he heard that soo....

I kinda wanted the black guy to win :D

Well he is 78 so that would put him being born around 1928. During that time almost every kid in Germany was. It is very possible, but he may not have had a choice.

I have a friend at work who's grandmother was in the Nazi Youth because she lived over there during the time.

BTW sneaking I was down around Grove Hill the other day and come back through Selma.

he was part of a Nazi Anti-Aircraft squad...

and some people in the past have nicknamed him the Panzer Priest for this aggressive nature on certain heated topics

That war was a very long time ago and a lot of people were drafted. In that era even if you didnt agree with the standing of the of the Nazi Party. If you spoke out you found yourself in a camp or in a ditch with a bullet in the head.

I am not Catholic so it really doesnt matter to me but I think unless he was a high level officer or something people should just forget about that. It was over 60 years ago since the war ended. When the war ended he couldnt have been more than 17.

Ok, yah, I have no problem with it....that was a long time ago. Yay for a new pope (I still wanted the black guy to win though)

You should have come by and seen me State.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger is the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and the dean of the College of Cardinals.

He was born in Germany on April 16, 1927, which was Holy Saturday that year, and baptized at the Easter Vigil services. His seminary training was interrupted by World War II, when he was inducted into the German army, deserted, and was briefly interned in an American POW camp. [\quote]

and now we can start another :D if it's right to betray your country....

Well, I don't want it.

:sorry:

Benedict is going to be one of those old school, follows the bible only and doesn't think outside the box guys. He didn't like what our previous pope was doing and is changing all of that.

Gives a whole new meaning to I believe in god, I just dont like his fanclub idea.

want a solution, vote me as Pope :D

:sorry:

I dont have the choice on who to be pope, the cardinals select you.

And they tend to vote old.

It shows that you dont know anything. To catholics/christians the Holy Bible is THE Word of God. You dont believe in any God, if you go out and change what he has (supposedly) written. Hence: back to slavery for most of chtistians :sorry: .
too bad god didnt write the bible, but people who believed in god did. If you notice in the corner of the bible with john, paul, luke, you notice jesus's deciples wrote it. Again its not god's exact word, only people at the time that thought that(which included slavery and other things).

I knew i should have spent more time writing this. I was misunderstood. Let me make the longer statement.

The real thing is it does not matter.

Christians believe that Bible was written by the Holy Spirit or something like that so it is indeed the word of God. Its the belief that drives them to do what they think God asks them to do whether it was His 'ture' intention or not.

Now from what i observed catholics believe strongly in hierarchy. God speaks directly to Pope. Pope speaks to cardinals, they speak to bishops, bishops to priests and priests to common folk. The end result is twofold: the lower you are the less idea you have at what the Bible is about and less you know about what Your God wants from You; it also leads to egzaltation of Pope's masses: commoners believe that its The God speaking more directly to them (kinda like burning Bush {VOTE FOR BUSH!!} in front of Moses - only if you set Pope on fire i doubt any Holy Word would escape his mouth). But i think that they still have no idea whats being talked about. For i dont know if 'be good and kind' is appropriate explanation. In some this has led to belief that God only exist inside church and outside its all free-style boxing. So what they know is what pope/cardinals/bishops/priests tell them to do, for they do not know that for themselves.

Protestants believe that they have direct connection to the God through His Word itself - the Bible. They read it and try to understand and then act. But still its what they believe what is being told to them.

I dont know much about other religions, but all i know have some sort of divine books and/or leaders that speak the Words of God.

They were all tought through the millenia that that indeed is the word of God. So how do you think they would act if someday some religious leader (Pope, dalailamma, high Rabbi or some else) would say that it was only sh**crap and from now on we do otherwise.

Example 1: Some extremist religious leader says: "from now on we be kind to israel".

Example 2: (kids dont read this) Pope during one of weekly masses says: "oh yeah, yesterday i married this priest i knew for some time, but dont worry - we used condoms during the wedding night".

Wouldnt they feel cheated? I think that the structures that stood and in which the people sunk themselves for millenia would shatter to the doom of all. And even i, the extreme anarchist, would want that to happen - i want to blow the world up myself and i dont need no religious riots to help me.

Besides, when speaking about such things (i heard it on TV today) like **********izm. Now how can Pope or any Bible-reader be for, if they remember what their God did to Sodome and Gomora.

NOTE: religion is one of the most personal things in human life. You offend it - youre dead as we have observed for the last 10000 years.

You cant be part-believer. You cant believe in God inside church and then go out and do what you like and far* on your God. For then you are worse than those idiots from 5-18th century. Either you believe fully and trully or no - and that is not the place for you and you can go screw yourself (like i have).

I know what you are saying and I understand that but people tend to sneak hidden agendas into religion by saying god wants this or that. God didn't directly tell us how to live our lives( the most direct thing would be 10 commandments because I don't see how that could be screwed up if written down in a book). So I follow that.

You notice how certain priests are marrying ***s? Doesnt the church oppose that? Now, if the curch is allowing this when it was strictly against it, then what about the main church then? Maybe its the part that went in a different angle but grew in power and won. So we could be learning the wrong meaning of christianity. So could people in other religions, learning a biased version that is not related to the base of what the religion truely is.
