April 23, 200521 yr First off, Nadril, your the reason that I did this. You did such a good job on your planets that I simply had to try it out myself. I didn't do them exactly the same way you did (your planet effect is much better IMO) but the way they're arranged looks cool. It's a large image, 1280 by 1024 in a 4:3 ratio or something close to that, so if you felt like it you could use it as a wallpaper. I do But anyways, here it is BTW, yes I know that the little blue planet has a purple atmosphere. Unfortunately coloring the planet blue changed the atmosphere as well. Oh well, many people wouldn't have noticed it before I added this, but I though that those that did would want to know why.
April 23, 200521 yr They arn't bad planets for a first, however The whole scene looks realy distorted and stretchy.. i'd half it's size to get it to look a tad better. Keep working at it.
April 23, 200521 yr Author Thanks. By the way I didn't use the same tutorial that you used, and it was unrelated so I had to make up a lot of the stuff as I went. I'm not sure what you mean by distorted and stretchy though. It looks fine to me but again, not everyone has the same screen ratio/moniter. Maybe it's the fact that I went with a medium quality .jpg to keep the file size low (the quality setting was like 30%, went from 3+ Megs to 80 some odd KBs). But could you provide a direct link to the tutorial you used? It would be nice to truely know what I'm doing instead of making it up as I go.
April 23, 200521 yr How about some impact craters. That would spice it up a bit. took the words right out of my mouth, good pic but the planets look to perfect.like as if they were just formed and new.so mountain ranges/ocean/craters would really make them look true.but either way very nice
April 23, 200521 yr you need some textures that are more like nadril's, the ones you used just look...bleh but its probably better than any planet i could make. GJ
April 23, 200521 yr Author Yeah, I just found some generic textures from www.grsites.com which were made for websites. I used to know a much better one, I'll have to find it again. Also, I found the tutorial you used Nadril, but there's no images in it I have no clue as to what he's doing lol.
April 24, 200521 yr http://www.mayang.com/textures/index.htm a great place for textures. also, google for perhaps actual planet textures. Than manip them and add other textures onto them. Can you send me the link to the one your using? I'll make sure if its right
April 24, 200521 yr Author It was the downloadable one from deviantart.com in Alys' Gallery, the Advanced Planet Creation tutorial. In the description it claims there's one online but when I followed the link, it took my to his site and when I found it there it said to download it off of Deviant Art. So, if you found it on the internet where you don't have to download it to view it, please give the link.

I dunno, i thought it had enough pictures Just read it more carefully. and go to the stock sites he sugests, they are much better. and ps: ALWAYS save your work in full quality, unless size limintations from you host or from the site (like a size limit for a sig) are in your way. As you want your piece to look the best posible. (i'd sugest saving as a .png)

Did your download give you images? About the file size, Just remember that some internet host sites have a file size limit. There would have been no way to get mmy image on Photobucket.com or imageshack when it was that huge. And besides, There wasn't any noticable image quality loss, so it's a fair trade for quick loading. To illistrate this, here are two images of the same planet. The one on top was saved as a 30% quality jpg and the bottom is a 100% quality jpg. The 30% http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v426/zorlentrivar/planet30.jpg And the 100% http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v426/zorlentrivar/planet100.jpg Can you see a difference? There is, but you really have to look to find it. Also, the 30% jpg is only 32 KBs while the 100% jpg is 193 KBs. As you can see, Lowering the quality of your saved images doesn't really do anything malignant to your images.
April 24, 200521 yr Actualy i can tell the difference Mostly in the contrast. and yeah, my download gave me pictures as well.
April 25, 200521 yr Author Ok, since I don't feel like starting a new thread so soon, here's another planet, my third so far. This one I'm surprised how it turned out. It is almost on par with Nadril's perfect one he used in his sig. It even has a meteor shower in it Yes I do know the meteors are pixelated. The image I found wasn't a very high quality one. But I have the PSD saved so I can make more improvements as I have time. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v426/zorlentrivar/Meteor1.jpg So do you guys think it's a big improvement as well?
