Bobcats/Mountain Lions beware!

Featured Replies

I live on the edge of town here in Northern California, my house backs up on the base of these large hills (we live in a valley). Anyways, I was watching some deer come down from the hills and eat about 75 yards from my fence when I get a call from a friend who lives two houses over. He was looking out at the deer and saw what looked like a bobcat or mountain lion. I've heard of them coming down and attacking some people...but I've never seen one. My friends and I did some good hiking in those hills, where no one lives, and found plenty of deer bones and such, but never have we seen a bobcat or mountain lion. I grab some binocs and find him about three hundred yards away lying down in some tall grass, stalking the deer. I figured I'd see something worthy of Real TV or Max X. But the deer continued parallel from the hills and my house while the bobcat or mountain lion stayed in place, about 300 yards away. He wasn't very big from what I saw, 3.5 to 4 feet perhaps.

Anyways, my dad comes out and has a look. He didn't want it around the area or to start coming down near our area (along with the neighbors) so we decided to get the spud gun. :p We shelled the bobcat/mountain lion for about five minutes, putting a few in around thirty yards. The potatos proved fairly innacurate and a tad bit short. :/ Anyways, the bobcat got the idea and started to walk away. :p

I plan on making a larger spud gun this weekend. :)

That's my story for today. :o

I wish I had some, but the mountain lion was too far for the zoom of the camera. And by the time I found the camera, the sun was already down. :o If I spot another one, I'll make sure to grab a picture.
No u have to hunt for them now!!! go get ur backpack on with some porkchops in ur pocket and find it :o

ahaha, artillery barrage with the spud cannon

I have this amazing mental image of you sitting behind the rotating wheel with a helmet on, you dad loading the cannon, and you then pulling the string to launch a potato shell at some cat

good stuff

lol that is awesome. Though I would have wanted to watch it attack the dear, shooting the lion with a spud gun is just as fun.

I'm painting the spud gun at the moment but once I finish I'll grab a picture.

put a moutain lion on it :o
Scarry. To think taking a walk in bush could get one jumped by mountain lion. I imagine it wouldn't let you see it til it was on you. So defend how ? Don't bush walk alone i guess. Carry pepper spray in hand ? :o
