June 12, 200520 yr After playing BF2 for a couple days im not entirely sold on it yet. The damage and aiming system need a lot, and I mean A LOT of work. I've been point blank with a SAW, unloaded 25 rds into a guy, and not only did I not kill him but he killed me in 3 shots with a MP5. I've also shot at a guys proned or crouched, bursting with a SAW like a "professional" while the guy is running at me, crouches, two bursts with an assaule rifle and I die, WTF!!!!! The Sniper rifles need some work too. I might be the only thinking this but a .30 cal round the the head or chest should kill anyone, it doesnt. Im not saying im a real crack-shot either but comon! After thats all of my chest, the game needs a little balance work as usual, I think the choppers are too godlike on the Battlefield. I've unloaded 10 rds from the main cannon on the LAVs into the ****pit, as usual the pilots survive wtf, and the chopper fired a 2.75 rocket salvo at me and killed me.... Now on the the good things. The graphics are not quite stellar but damn good. The weapon models are beautiful and full of detail. The iron sights look like they should minus the 3-D effect, and the red dot scopes look extraordinary. Likewise with the vehicles. The map is beautifully done, it kind of gives me the feeling like im actually underdeveloped town. The distance mapping, sounds right, is great, it doesn't just dissapear in a shroud of fog. All in all, it is a fairly solid game and it is fun to play as long as you arent getting ghetto stomped or slaughtering the other team. Slaughter is kind of fun but it gets boring after a while as does the the game. WOW this is the longest post I've ever done.......100% gaming N-E-R-D.
June 12, 200520 yr i concur witht the aiming thing, there have been a couple WTF moments for me as well, otherwise i loving it all
June 12, 200520 yr A few things to consider... 1. internet gaming 2. differences in body armory between the kits, him wearing it, you shooting him in it (torso shots), and him shooting you in the head. 3. Sniper rifles, the bullet path drops at distance, so if you aim at his head, from a distance, you hit him in the torso (again, body armor). The farther away you are, the more elevation is required in your shot. Just takes some getting used to, and being a better, more accurate shot... Especially if your not used to the Battlefield family.. Oh, and their never gonna make everyone happy, me personally, I'm loving it... TFD
June 12, 200520 yr BF2 is definetly a different game than the previous battlefields. Even though the weapons are more powerful, theres body armor to contend with and that realyl seems to make a difference. For me personally, I kinda like how its harder to kill people as it means the better, more accurate shot, will beat the Spray'n'Pray guys. As a whole, I'm loving BF2. I was a huge fan of 42 and Vietnam but I really didnt follow what was going to be coming in features for BF2 so seeing some of the improvements really made me go wow, this is a great move for the Battlefield series. Graphics I like a lot, not quite as good as I was expected but still really nice. However the sound is awesome. Every time I hear a bullet or explosion I go wow that's awesome. And that's on a high-end headset, I cant imagine what a nice set of speakers would sound like thatd be even better. There's just a lot of little things that add up to make a really good demo. It's the little touches like birds or whatever that really make a game go from good to Game of the Year. Whew, that was pretty long too.
June 13, 200520 yr the SAW is a VERY unaccurate weapon, unlike other games, you can't simply run around, crouch and take out people. It's supposed to be used effectivly from a prone position. Plus, in both cases you were fighting some pretty accurate weapons, especially when they're crouched and the sniper rifles in the BF series have always been weird. I'm not sure whether you have to lead or not, and the shots float downwards like in real life so far, I've yet to have any 'stupid' aiming or damage problems and from someone who quit DC because of the overpoweredness of helicopters, I have to say that at least they're not as used now (ie there isn't one always around)
June 13, 200520 yr yeah, and you have to use burst shots, you can't just continue to shoot, or else your aim will go off, like in CS:S. prone at all times with the saw, unless he's 5 feet away from you, then crouch, never stand
June 14, 200520 yr Sniping takes some time to get used to. But i am able to 1 shot kill ppl with it, just a question of getting used to it and some luck I love the way those bodies fly when you get a headshot on a running nme
June 14, 200520 yr Single shot is your friend.... well, if your weapon is has that option. With the SAW, I just go prone, bring up my sights, and burst fire it. The choppers are very far from overpowering. They are toned down from BFV and DC. The jets on the other hand... I found my new passion. I love the jets, so much better.
