June 16, 200520 yr Now, I do find a great deal of humor in the situation, if I am correct. A guy on the eagames.co.uk forums brought to my attention the fact that consumers have the "Right to Repair" a product to make it work, if it does not work. As some (maybe most) of you may know, EA has made some older graphics cards unsupported for BF2, and they do not plan on supporting them. Some people made a fix for this, and are still working on a better fix. Now the problem with the fix is, Punkbuster is likely to pick it up as a hack. So, if Punkbuster bans someone for using this fix, then technically (if I am correct) the banned person could sue EA for denying them their Right to Repair. Is this correct? I am only 15 and dont know much about laws or anything.
June 16, 200520 yr rights to repair seem to be a completly different thing having to do with your landlord not fixing somthing and you having the right to get a contractor to do it and you get repaid for it http://www.scotland.gov.uk/housing/leaflets/rtr-00.asp doesnt seem to have anything to do with games give me a link to a thread
June 16, 200520 yr I think you need more accurate information than housing laws Or at least something like some American laws that are modified to include electronic crime and what not. (Ignore my improper terms!!) EDIT: Maybe a bit more in context. http://www.swarb.co.uk/lawb/ipRepairDef.shtml Soo hard to find USEFUL information in law.. I guess this is why there is a "Law School." Jeebus, lets just stick with the 10 Commandments, I'm not even Jewish and I know that's all society needs.
June 16, 200520 yr I think society needs ór better gfx cards for BF2 or EA making BF2 possible for people with less advanced cards
June 16, 200520 yr Author No State, its not a joke. I thought it was funny though. I just didnt know if that was possible or not.... the link Ant gave was the one that the forum post contained. But Scratchy said on Ventrilo that when you click the "I accept the EULA terms" button, it says in there that the game cant be modified and therefore you forfeit the "Right of Repair" thing. I told yall I dont know much about law......
June 16, 200520 yr EA says that BF2 doesnt support my video card. But i run it on LOW TO MEDIUM (hell yes) settings with my good ole FX5600. They say the minimum requirement is a FX5700. They can go to Hell.
June 16, 200520 yr im absolutly positive if you tried to sue ea over this you would lose im sure the eula covers this
June 16, 200520 yr ATI 9100 is slower than a GF4 TI4200 but the 9100 can play BF2. I have them both so I should know. Now Overclock the crap out of a 9100 to 300 core and 500 memory and it will be a lot closer to a 4200 but the 4200 is still faster. HL2 is ATI favorable and the 4200 is slower here. This is not about EA being a pain. They know. They just dont want to make the game playable for cards that use 1.3 pixel shaders. I am sure the hardware companies don't mind this at all. HINT HINT. How many TI4200's, 4400's and 4600's have been sold and are still in use? A LOT!!! Any Ideas on how many? I wish I knew. Could they play this game. YES. Will they. No. Hint Hint. See above.
June 16, 200520 yr Author I am in agreement with Mac here. Anyways....my question is answered, thanks yall.
