Posted June 18, 200520 yr OK, my one big gripe. NO ONE USES ANTI ARMOR AT ALL!!!!!!!! yes it is underpowered but it is a lot better than being owned over and over again by some guy in a tank because there is no air support, no vehicle support, and no one can get close enough to plant C4. I am SO SICK of points that are defended by 10+ guys being overrun by a single vehicle just because everyone refuses to change to AA and take it out. Air support is hardly an option because no one realizes that the helicopter has a TV guided missle or that the hydra rockets suck at everything. Dear god people, think! think!
June 18, 200520 yr Ok I use it ever now and then but not as much as I should. Breath in----- Breath out---
June 18, 200520 yr I guess I'll try to be anti-armor more often. I mainly go medic so I live a lot longer than if I didn't, but sometimes I go engineer if something important needs repairs(like the mortars, radar, that sort of thing) But let me tell you something, it is just slight overkill to blow a person up with the rockets that you get as an AA guy. It's not necesary unless the guys in a vehicle. I just hope that they make the handgrenades do more damage to vehicles. I know that they're frag grenades, so they're not supposed to do damage to vehicles, but it would be nice to have SOME, no matter how limited, ability to damage armor untill an AA guy comes around. Also, do you guys know if there's going to be an anti-air kit in the final version? I find it more annoying to be constantly bombed into submission by incoming aircraft and mot being able to do a while lot of damage back to them, even when in a tank. I did, however, shoot down a couple attack helicopters with an ak-101 before
June 18, 200520 yr Ok, I don't plan on using AA again for a long time. What's the point of being able to blow up a tank if you get swarmed by foot soldiers? Whenever I was an AA guy, I never got backup AT ALL. Here's a prime example: I'm one of the USMC, using the AA kit. the MEC had captured the middle beach flag, so I decided to go liberate it after calling for back up. I get to the flag, but no backup, so I call for it again. 5 MEC soldiers spawn at the same time, and I manage to somehow pick them all off one by one with my MP5, all the while calling for backup. IT NEVER CAME. I eventually got swarmed and consequentially executed just before I finished the flag capture. I am probably not going to use the AA kit for a while. The SRAW is a tad underpowered for my tastes. Shooting a tank with it upwards of 2 times is a bit much. I find that that C4 with the special forces kit works much better in that situation, at least for me. One final thing: MAKE THE SERVER AUTOSWITCH SOMEONE ELSE! I got autoswitched 3 times in one round. That gets VERY confusing. I'm surprised I have avoided team killing everything because of that.
June 18, 200520 yr for me- when ever i roll into a point with a tank and kill the first wave, they all respawn with anti tank or special forces
June 18, 200520 yr I use anti-armor frequently. Two nights ago, a friend and I defended a point for a very long time with just anti-armor.
June 18, 200520 yr Whenever I'm in the gunner position of a helicopter, I love using the TV guided missiles they're so effective, and simple, I can't believe others haven't figured them out yet
June 18, 200520 yr Yea, I use AA probably more than I should.. I'm also getting quite accurate with the aircraft bombing, so when a flag starts getting taken, or someone calls for support, and I have the bombs for it, I'm there in a jiff.. TFD
June 18, 200520 yr i do use aa quite often because it seems like not a lot of people do. anyways whenenver im in a tank in the enemies base i can't go for too long without being bombarded with anti tank missiles or being blown up by c4.
June 18, 200520 yr well...it seems to me...that on my computer the only thing that AA kills in one hit is Planes...and thats when theyre on the ground. so really its kinda useless for me. :/ oh and how do you actually GUIDE THE MISSILE!? all it does is after i fire it it just goes in a straight path. is it SUPPOSED to do that? :? i thought it was called "GUIDED" for a reason.... :/ :?
June 18, 200520 yr you have to hold down the button and move your mouse to track it. even if you dont hold down the button and it starts reloading, it still tracks to the direction your pointing it, which is the ground. so unless you are very close, close enough to no scope a tank, then you want to guide it until you see the X show up indicating a hit.
June 18, 200520 yr Well, I know this has been mentioned already, but one of the reasons I dont play AA (as much as I will try to in the future after reading this thread) is because they seem so underpowered. It gets frustrating. On another note, I'd like to see the rifles cause more damage. It takes too many bullets to drop someone...ah..but I digress.
June 18, 200520 yr i tried doing what you told me DH. Unfortunatly, like most other things in this demo, it didnt work. all it did was go straight, not even leaning to the left or right even a little.
June 18, 200520 yr I run away and let the tank do it's thing. CAll for air support b/c the AA suxors. You have to die to switch weapons. The object for me is to stay alive and do as much help or damage possible.
June 18, 200520 yr in all the other bf games, enginer was a pretty good anti tank class, just throw a mine under them and next time the move, boom. but now enginer is pretty much worthless except for reppaing artillery, uav, and radar.
June 18, 200520 yr I run away and let the tank do it's thing. wuss ;] i usually try to wait till the tank turns around, i shoot, run behind a wall, and after i reload, shoot again so he doesnt see me
June 19, 200520 yr I use special ops and medic alot when im in a squad. special ops when i cant get anyone to work as a team, since its decent go-it-alone. and medic when I manage to get some teamwork going on, since it seems few people like being a medic. lol, it all depends on what we need tho. i ended up holing up with defcon around the time he posted this, both of us AA. no support kills. he was getting perturbed and I have to agree. even if my teammates arent tk'ing me, they sure as hell dont seem to be helping much. i managed to get a full squad working as a team twice today, once on your server. we mopped the floor with everything we put our minds to, but noone else on our team could get their bloody bums organized enough to do the same. end result; overrun. BAWK!:-p
June 19, 200520 yr special ops is only fun when you're alone. because you don't want your teammates gettin near those packs of c4 ;o (yeah it's happened to me before, got 2 teamkills and 1 enemy) I was kicked from the server after that ;]
June 19, 200520 yr yea, special ops is a good lone wolf esq setup. i have noticed that alot of people dont play with the saw and its rapid firing iraqi equivlants. they really arent so bad in this game, although I suppose people staying away from them is a holdover from Battlefield and desert combat mod. since in that, the SAW sucks.
June 20, 200520 yr For those that dont know. Anti Armor rockets are wire guided and can be directed in flight. The trick is this. They shoot straight and are uncontrollable for the first 25-35-meters or so THEN you can fly em home. Just keep the long range target painted the whole time and the AA will seek and deliver. It just doesnt allow control for short distances.
June 20, 200520 yr That is actually how they really operate. The conrtol surfaces of the rocket do not do any good until it's velocity gives it enough air currents over its control surfaces to effect its flight motion. That would be at the 20 to 40 meter mark.
June 21, 200520 yr I play spin the tank around with the AA kit, shoot in the butt run wait for tank to tunr around shoot in the butt again work pritty well. I love the AA kit
June 21, 200520 yr You have to hit the tank in the correct spot for maximum damage. Don't just sit there and shoot the tank in the front hull. Hit it from the rear or top (if you can) for best results. http://forums.totalbf2.com/showthread.php?t=7907&highlight=test
June 22, 200520 yr Thanks for the post. My son and I did the same test but not as specific b/c you have to be really accurate to hit some of those areas. Hit it from the side track area and the rear whenever posssible. Do not hit turret or front unless you know of previous damage. The Bradley and BMP are different beasts to be hit and to hit a tank. Lots of shells and/or a few rockets but the same above applies. Tracks and rear.
