Dedicated Special Ops Squad?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone was interested in starting a dedicated TAC Special

Forces ODA? I imagine a group of us who would perhaps meet on empty

servers or our own to study the maps and determine the best way to insert

into enemy command bases, and cripple their command and control right off

the bat.

For example, on Gulf of Oman:

A 6 man squad composed of 2 spec ops, 2 medics, and 2 AA insert via HALO

using the blackhawk or by a combo of boats and or buggies (split into two

teams so we arent all wiped out in one go) into the main enemy base. The

two spec ops should have enough C4 to take out the comm building, the

radar, and the arty. The AA take care of that T90 and any planes that

respawn, and the medics tag team healing and providing overwatch. Once

all objectives are accomplished, the enemy should be pretty much

incapacitated within 5 minutes of the round starting. I have worked with

groups similar to what I am proposing and can attest to their effectiveness

and disrupting the enemy and diverting their efforts from taking points.

If anyone is interested, perhaps we could setup a time to meet and practice,

especially once the full version comes out and we have more maps to deal

with (including at least one with a cappable main base that I know of).

awesome, we need some good medics, Im pretty decent though i can be a little overzealous and get myself killed in the process of trying to save someone. I figure we would all have a focus class, but cross "train" in others so we can still operate effectively man (men) down.
this is another way with less chance of beign shot in the process: take any jet and parachute over their base. special ops preferably and squad leader. the rest of the squad spawn on him as support medic and whatever else they want. support to give him more ammo, medic to revive squad leader.
I"m thinking of playing the role of support/machine gunner and ammo resupply. I've been playing all roles lately trying them out. I think i'd also consoder anti tank aswell. I noticed that the apc's and tanks will quickly turn the turrent in direction of anti tank missile. I keep dying after one shot off. I guess i'm not to good at it. Anyways for some reason i've been doing ok with support lately. 10 / 4 there little buddy :p

the Helo works pretty good if you have the minute or so it takes to get to a high altitude, then you just jump, fall for a few seconds, open the chute close to the ground and you are golden. Hence, HALO, High Altitute Low Opening jump.

In terms of support guys, we dont really need them, for two reasons:

1) We have all the C4 we need to blow all the important structures, and if something happens the spec ops can respawn on the SL or the SL can call in for support

2) There is a good chance the ODA wont even live long enough to need resupply, even with medics, the best bet is to use the support spot for another medic so we can keep everyone in the fight and keep the SL alive for spawn purposes.

If you guys want to get a practice time going, let me know, otherwise I will just start a squad called Spec Ops on the server whenever I can and if there is sufficient manpower.

The buggys are best at insertion. Alot harder to hit. Nothing can track them like a Stinger. :p

I would go with almost all Spec ops and one or two meds as you suggested. That is all you will need. If you see armor. Just run and Hide till Air support can help out.

buggys are good for going up in the hills behind their base, but if a tank comes down that road.. or an anti tank, you are dead

air support is spotty at best, bombs are hard to aim, and the helicopter is laughably anemic since no one uses the guided missle. IMHO the best bet is to have either 2 med, 2 AA, 2 Spec op, or remove both AA and add another spec op and engineer. The engineer could create a nice minefield and the spare Spec Op could be a suicide bomb (which I have discovered is probably the flatout best bet against armor).

I was on tonight practiciing VBIED techniques with C4 and buggies, WOW! It was the most effective anti armor solution I have seen yet, though i must admit I did have to sacrifice a teammate or two and I did in fact put the suicide in "suicide bombing". Still, one suicide is better than having an armored vehicle taking out an entire squad

Buggies and going around armor is what I do. Ask Commander SRT Claymore Carl. He was getting his butt kicked the other day. :p
