June 22, 200520 yr Ok, so the optical drive on my main gaming comp doesnt work, and I have a new copy of BF2. I have a plan to remedy this situation, but I need help. Luckly I have another computer with a DVD drive (I have the DVD version of the game), so I want to make an image of the game and move it over to my other computer (the one with the broken drive), from there I can use Alcohol or DaemonTools to play. Problem is, while I am familiar with the various programs and procedures for making images, I have never done a DVD image before, nor do I know whether or not the game is copy protected in such a way that an imaged copy would not work, even with a fully legit key. if ANYONE can give me any info on imaging the DVD version of BF2, please post ASAP, i would be forever in debt to you. PS If you guys want a scan of my receipt to ensure that I am on the up and up I can get one
June 22, 200520 yr DVD images are basically the same i will look around for the protection type of BF2 DVD you will use it as the datatype when u burn the image in alcohol
June 22, 200520 yr Take the dvd drive and put it in the other computer? This sounds like a better, and probably quicker solution to me too.. TFD
June 22, 200520 yr ok my sources say safedisc4 it isnt an option in alcohol, well atleast my version if you cant use that, your just gonna have to experiment. keep messing around with the options until the image works
June 22, 200520 yr Author i would have had the same issue with the regular CD-ROMS anyway, but I decided to buy the DVD so I didnt have to keep track of 2-4 CD's. BTW I got the image to work using Daemon Tools and their copy emulation. Thanks for all your help guys, especially goPats who gave me the type of copy protection used :peace:
June 22, 200520 yr I agree with Mac, easier, but more manual labor intensive. Not like its hard labor but still its hard to remove two cables and 5-7 screwes and slide stuff out. Whew...Tired just thinking about it.
June 22, 200520 yr 1) Use CDSpace / Alcohol 120 to make the image, and transfeer it via networking. It cuts through the protection like cheese and makes a 1:1 copy pretty much. Plus with Alcohol 120 you can do all sort of emulation to make it look like a real disk. 2) Just share your drive on the computer that has a drive, and open that shared drive on the pc you want to install it onto VIA, networking. I do this all the time and it works fine.
