it's funny cause what you just posted said that the lowest BF2 goes with Geforce cards is the 5700.

I have a 5600 Ultra and it runs it fine....on low settings....on 800x600....BUT IT STILL WORKS!

If you already bought that XFX card... good luck, I heard they like to die early :/

I don't buy ANYTHING (when it comes to computers) without Macs Sign of Approval.
NOOOOOOO Jairyn.

First off you don't want 256mb of onboard RAM!!!!!!!

Spend the extra and get a 6600GT with 128mb of ram.

PLEASE !!!!!!!

5600 Ultra is not a bad card. I had one and overclocked it. It was a Neweggg refurb and died ain a few months. It was a little faster than a ATI 9600XT and TI4200. It did DX9 though.

You might just want to keep it till you get e new system.

Uh. No.

You might want to upgrade someday.

They only do Direct X 7 content so games dont look to good.

Would you suggest overclocking my 5600? I've had it for 2 years, and all i want to do is play bf2 on medium settings. This isnt a big jump from what im playing now (mostly medium some low)

How do i overclock it?

www.guru3d.com

download coolbits

Run it

go to your advanced tab in your display properties and look for clock frequencies.

Push the card about 30mhz on mem and core initially and then go 10 mhz at a time ONE at a time till you find the max at each.

how will i know when i've reached the max?

EDIT:

when I change the mhz for standard 2d and performance 3d it says i have to test them to make sure the computer can handle it. When i run the test it says that the settings are too high and it makes me put them back down. What do i do now?

that problem sounds odd i have coolbits and its just two sliders you increase or decrease and you hit apply

post a screenshot of it

to test play games or run benchmarks in a loop for a while

memory over heating or clocked to high results in artifacts (they look like the screen is screwed up wrong colors, no colors, parts got froze on the screen) youll know them when you see them

and the core is to high/fast when games sieze up and freeze or wont run or crash

just increase one at a time so you know which one caused the problems

Artifacts can also be little white pixels. Like KFA said, youll know when you see them.

Make sure to increase them separately though. Probly one of the biggest mistakes of new overclockers, they move everything up really high and it just plainly doesnt work. Take it slowly, and gradually increase the speeds until they are just below where artifacts start.

that's not the actual program, thats the default Nvidia thing. I dont know if it was there before I installed coolbits.

The stock speeds were 400 and 800. I tried putting it to 403 and it didnt work.

I'll download rivatuner

ya some drivers come with coolbits

some dont

all coolbits does is give you access to those sliders

the wierd part is the testing thing

ive never seen that before

try rivatuner if that doesnt work somthings wierd
