there really isnt a choice if you want to run programs that are largly windows only, apple survives from its 'neat' inventions such as the ipod and stuff, at least imo. apples are used for media and video but thats about it as far as i can tell

The programs that are made for windows are also made for linux and apple, they are just harder to find because not as many people use apple and linux as do windows. and it isnt a bad thing to have a standard os.... It makes computers easier to learn how to use. the more operating systems you have the more complicated it is to teach people how to use a computer. it just makes more sence to have ONE globally recognized os.

The only reason you wouldnt be able to get steam for apple is because the person/people who created steam didnt create a version for apple! that is not microsofts fault! that is steams fault! you can get BF2 for apple, i am almost certain of it!

 

If ANYONE could make a BETTER os then people would buy it and not Windows, but that hasnt happened yet....

 

Microsoft doesnt have a monopoly, they just have an EXTREMELY hard to replicate product. and by the way Microsoft welcomes people to compete with them, it only helps them make windows better!

 

also, microsoft doesnt raise the price that high because there ARE other os'es out there that ARE competing AGAINST microsoft!

im not gonna argue about this, but lets just put it on a smaller scale: 90 percent of fast food customers shop at mcdonalds. 5% at BK and 5% at carls jr. if mcdonalds doubles the price of their big mac, or if they decide to cut quality by 1/5 or something do you think that they will lose enough to the competition to significantly lower profits.

it isnt microsofts fault directly, but it may not be compatable to run since i would venture over 95 percent of potential steam users run microsoft OS so it would not be worth the money to accomidate such a small minority of users

Ummmmmm. MAC is a USER FRIENDLY pc. thats what they are known for. if anyone says otherwise they have never really used a mac. i have had a mac while growing up. thats what i started on for years. and microsoft DOES have a monopoly. i dont see how a rebuttle could even be logical. are you actually arguing taht microsoft DOESNT have a monopoly on the computer world??

I was gonna upgade to xp (yeah I still have windows ME), Until I seen it was $100. pssh, I'll wait till I get a new computer. :peace:
