Battlefield 2 Retail Server Files Available

 

In anticipation of next week's launch of Battlefield 2 at retail, we are releasing the Unranked server file for Win32. Be advised that, as with the demo, servers that are caught allowing users to play with the unlock weapons using the python workaround will incur a one week ban from the server list. While we encourage mod teams to discover cool things to do with the python scripts, we reserve the right to de-list servers that find ways to undermine the core features of the game using these tools. We will be sure to update the community when we do begin punishing a tweak that falls into this category.

 

If you are going to tweak the Python files and you are unsure whether you might be doing something that DICE and EA would consider undermining a core game feature, please feel free to send a note to BFHQ@ea.com and ask for our feedback. We want to re-affirm that for the most part anything goes on Unranked servers.

Yup, you'll definitely be removed from the server list. You should, however, still show on other browsers such as All-Seeing Eye, etc...

 

From my one admin, all he had done was to (shut down the server first, then) edit the python unlock file as previously noted (change the 0,0,0,0,0 etc to 1,1,1,1,1,1 etc.)

 

The number of ranked servers has dramaticaly increased in the past week or so. Using an alternate browser (I use ASE), it's easy to find dozens of non-full ranked servers - even empty ones. It's hard to compete with a ranked server, even though the gameplay is "better" when people play the game right. Hopefully, in a month or two the "rank fever" will die down.

Bah, I have half a mind to suggest we just run a ranked server if we could find a halfway decent provider. That way we can play the TAC way and get our ranks at the same time... but I think that's the "Dark Side" calling again. :peace:

Just checked it out, and your unlocked weapons are still usable in the TAC server. You just have to get your ranks and unlocks on ranked servers, but they carry through to all servers it looks like?

Only unranked server I've played on is our own, so I was not aware of that. And the only reason I play on ranked servers so much is because our own server is EMPTY most of the times I checked... what gives?

 

That brings me to ask... why was it so easy to fill our CSS server and not BF2 server? BF2 is a far superior game! Why aren't we supporting our own server and playing on it? For goodness sake, we dont' need to play on ranked servers to get our pretty guns, why not unlock them and play here where we have control of them??

i know why.... >=D because HL will always be #1 in your heart. <3 HL! thats why. and because BF2 ranked servers seem to be quite overrated plus HL is the best!
