Don't Get Me Wrong!

BFII is a great game but.....

If you are on foot you are so susceptible to get killed by so many different things it's unbeleivable and I haven't even played in a game with planes or helos.

I can't get close enough to a tank to C4 it before I am blown to smithereens by a shell or who knows what shoots me.

If you don't like flying you are out of luck it seems.

Sure, it's like real life war but games are WAY to complicated these days.

It is virtually impossible for someone to learn all of the weapons and be proficient with all of the vehicles in this game.

Yes, I haven't played much but I don't see me spending the time to get good enought to compete.

To go it alone on a server with no friends to play with is not good. You need teamwork to make this game good. How often do you see teamwork in PUB. 1 in 100 times maybe it all comes together. Not enough for me.

Can't wait til ARMORY server is full all the time and we can have some fun.

keep going, you'll get the hang of it. The only thing is: you will have to accept that many of your deaths will be totally out of your hands.

Best tip I can give you: When you hear a whistling noise, RUUUNNNNNNN

There is a lot more teamwork in BF2 than any other game I've played (except maybe AA) -- there's usually a squad or two doing all the work ... just join it, or ask to join if it's locked. Then you can spawn with their squad leader and work with them on voice chat if they're doing that.

If you're coming straight from FA you will definately have some culture shock. There is a lot more that can kill you, sure, but there's a lot more that you can do to kill as well.

If you're a run-and-gun type you might try the special forces rifle first -- it seems to be a good starter weapon.

Good luck!

ease yourslef in playing on 16 player maps and do try to learn the helos and jets, even with a m/k i did. if you have any quesstions or want to try the g3 or jackhammer let me know

Thanks for the advice and offers.

Guess the 64 player map was too much for first time huh.

I did have all options on Med or High and ran great.

That is a plus.

what are you running?

cuz i have to make sure all my background systems are closed down. Then, I have to play on medium settings with voice overlay and dynamic lighting of, and low effects or my game will freeze.

I'm running 3200+ with 1.0 gig of ram on a 6600gt pci-e

wth?

:D Smithereens I love that word it makes me laugh :p I had to say it.

Klink, you need to learn how to play this game (like you had to do it when you started to play FA). Every class has their advantages- for example medic is ok, but when you die too much from heavy weapons this class won't help you at the start.

If you want to blow the tank, place c-4 BEFORE it comes near you and then detonate it, for example: when you see that some point is continously taken by an enemy coming from a valley, mine it.

You can use engineer class to put some anti-tank mines, disadvantage: your teammates would probably run it first (but you already learn they would- you played FA with tripped clays, didn't you? :D )

The best way is to get anti-tank class and blowing MBT's with a strategy known as: jump from behind- shoot- hide- reload- repeat. If you're quick enough the enemy wouldn't know what exactly hit him (they wouldn't see the warning icon they were tracked).

Try to get inside of T-90/ M1A2. You would be protected from infantry, but not their heavy weapons AND you'd be prime target for heli's and fighters...

and I'm sure you wouldn't mind gunner position in a copter. :p It's by far the best 'class' you can get. You need great pilot to be your commander, but I believe there are some good pilots in TAC... Also, you can jump off the heli with some sniper rifle and try to land somewhere where you can't be taken down by infantry (like some roof that seem to be inaccessible). The rest is easy :( (though I know you don't like camping :) )

a tip to blow tanks with c4:

if there is a tank near you, try to get behing a wall/object/sandbag and throw a couple on it. then run, jump, prone, and blow.

if there is no wall near you, then try to quickly run behind the tank where it can't see you. don't try to make too much noise, only make the run for it if the tanker isnt moving around that much.

Yes you can.

Yes you can

Yes you can.

I play as AA and Spec ops a lot.

I usually have a positive score and pretty high points.

It takes 3 rockets to knock out a tank. Aim at the treads and back.

It takes 2 to 3 c4's to do the same.

You need to pick your time to C4 and sprint. Find hilly ground or a corner.

This is not FA but the teamwork is great.

Thanks again for tips.

I was playing with Gator one night and gunning on a Helo on an empty map.

That was awesome I wish there were some people to mow down.

I have P4 2.4

1 Gig RAM

ATI Radeon X800XL Vid Card 256GDDR memory

That is it but everything runs great and don't ask me how.

I turned off the few that I had on HIGH just to see if game runs any differently even though I had no problems, just to check.

Hi Klink I know what you're talking about, but as other have said play on 16 player maps a lot smaller often just a couple of vehicles and a lot more foot work going on.

2nd XFire me and I'll take you up in my Squad it's been always a blast with my friend and if you have a good Squad and the Team work is there this game soars.

The tips on blowing up Tanks works you need to be a lot more sneaky to make it happen headlong rushing wont work and only get you killed :D and C4 is your friend for blowing up all kinds of stuff :(

I have been playing Spec Ops only and love it. I like to drive Tanks or APCs and think I'm ok at it. Next thing on my list is choppers and planes. Best thing to learn these are is running a single player game ("Dragon assault" or something like that a map that has USM at the north and a lot if islands controlled by the MEC) chose USM on that map there you get to fly a plane or practice chopper flying :p

Hope this helped too, cya

Doc! Play FA more. Then....

I played in a 16 player server and it said it was old people playing there. LOL.

I thought this is the place for me. I M4'd 3 tanks that server and capped a few flags. It was fun there with less players and ya i would like to play with some friends and join in squads with them for more fun.

OFF TOPIC: is anyone play with ping higher than 100? Is game playable?

Because I'm very decided to buy BF II (I'm still playing demo) and if I would like to join armory server I would have ping higher than 100 for sure...

at times it's playa-bull,but sometimes things are just like a bad slide show.also i've noticed my mouse sensitivity being very screwy.like the most little of movement will make me do a complete 360(which suks if i'm tring to shoot at something :(

I have played with over 150 ping with no problems except when the server kicks me after waitng about 5 minutes to finaly find a game and then load the damn thing up then I am considered a high pinger and kicked.

If it's the only issue of yours I think I'm going to buy it fast (in fact: my WIFE wants to buy it for me. It's the thing I don't really understand...).

KK-

Glad to see you are enjoying the game some more. I was getting my roomate interested in the game this weekend and the first night was horrible. So i played for him to see if i could get him some points, and i couldn't do anything. After checking, he joined a 64 person server and I feel that that is very difficult even for a veteran player. I prefer 32, but even the 24 and 16 players servers are great, and you can almost always find a small group of players that love teamwork just as much as you.

She wants some space LOL.

Au contraire... she's rather "I'm-going-to-lock-you-in-the-golden-cage" type of girl. I should've mentioned it before, but I'm rather pretty :(
