July 21, 200520 yr Here is how you do it in console. renderer.drawfps 1 0 is off It appears in the upper left. If anyone else has any other little tricks. Please make a new thread showing them off.
July 22, 200520 yr I'm embarrassed... my FPS is probably smaller than everyone else's probaly not mine... probaly not mine
July 22, 200520 yr Here is mine. 57.8 if you can't read it. Kinda low I think. Is there any way to raise it with some tweaks? /monthly_06_2011/post-582-130810174824_thumb.jpg
July 23, 200520 yr Author Turn settings down. i would play at 800x600 before I would turn down graphic settings at High or medium. Try it and see what ya think.
July 23, 200520 yr I will have check when ever I get to play again, but I think the last time I checked it was around 99 with everything on high @ 1024x768 (also I think I had AA on). My rig AMD64 3700+ (San Diego Core) 1MB cache 1024 Corsair C2 ram Nvidia 6800GT (256MB) 21 inch monitor.
July 23, 200520 yr i would play @ 800x600 but then it doesnt fill my moniter. My son's login was having same issue, him running 800x600 in game when rest of system is set at higher, the game wouldn't fill the screen. Got a suggestion from the Forums at TotalBF2 that said to make sure you select the 8x6 with the highest refresh rate available, bingo, the monitor automatically adjusts now to fill the screen. Something to try? TFD
September 25, 200520 yr Dug this up from well before we got the game, so didn't know about it. Was looking fopr way to check fps to know if various tweeks do anything. TigerHawk pc averages around 15/66 to 20/50. Hogan av 18/55 to 22/48. QUESTION : What do these mean ? Why in other people screen shots do I see higher number first but ours it 2nd? clearly our 1st is fps at time, but what is second # ?
September 26, 200520 yr Cant play, but I believe those were 800 x600 with teh shaders off -e- I have 1434 global points w000
September 29, 200520 yr With all my stuff tweaked pretty well now I see 103-105 fps a good bit. I am not so sure if I am even going to buy that other 7800GT to SLI now.
September 29, 200520 yr what settings u play on? we were/are using most minimum bf2 video and audio settings possible. nvidia and winxp set for max performance. nothing overclocked. after many hrs reading tweek info posted by klink for vid cards, xp, cpu ... found out most i could push nvidia gpu was 300mhz from defualt 250. most i can push cpu is 110 mhz BUS (lol) from default 100. any higher and well i won't bore you with that long hairpulling story. after nights of tiring work on these, bf2 fps bottoms out usually around 18 instead of 15. not much. hardly seems worth it. but maybe it means fewer of those occaisional busy area lags as we have few more fps before noticable lag. if in future we became able to replace something, what would make most differance ? faster cpu then current 1.5mhz now clocked at 1.65 mhz ? faster then nvidia 5200 fx 128 mb 250 mhz gpu now set at 300 mhz vid card ? more vid ram card or just faster card ? more then current 2 x 256 mb rams = 512 mbs ? oh and the mobo is only 100mhz bus i presume since cpu front side bus default is 100mhz. what about that ? or are all the above severe "bottlenecks" meaning changing any 1 thing will still be restricted by other parts ?
September 29, 200520 yr Everyone! Rejoice in knowing that your fps beats mine in any game! I cant even play BF2 without a community fix (they had one for the demo at least, donno about a full game fix) but I can assure you that you have no need to worry about your fps. A game is playable with as little as 10-20 fps.....believe me, I play DOD:S with it on 32 player servers.
September 29, 200520 yr ya, i played duke nukem and shadow warrior online with klink yrs ago, thru 28k modem, with about 12 others, with 7-11 fps with almost no probs. shows how long it's been since i bothered to check in game fps in games. as long as they ran playable i didn't worry about it. with more demanding games now, 15 fps may usually be okay, until one of a number of variables happens. like net speed slows ; other player net or system slows ; server struggles with high ping players, causing less response time for all, especially when you get near a high ping player or the opposite, you get near very low ping player with your ping marginally high, you get lag ; etc, etc, etc. makes me wonder if bf2 servers can have ping limits set, so that if anyone hits a set ping target of say 200, they automatically get kicked. prob maybe with that is it makes server cpu work much harder maybe, further slowing game for all ? as with running our own fps viewer, i suspect it works your cpu so much calculating that you end up seeing much less then you would be getting witout fps detector running ?
September 29, 200520 yr i average between 70 - 90 dps depending on intensity of battle. my settings forced 1280x1024 (hoping they fix this in next patch so i can use AA properly) all video settings on medium my rig amd64 3500+ asus a8v deluxe bfg6800gt dual wd raptors raid 0 setup 1gb kingston hyper-x ultra low latency. on a side note. statecop did you upgrade directly to the 3700+? or did you have a lower model amd64 prior to that? the reason im asking is im thinking about upgrading to the 3700+ from my 3500+ to get the 1mb cache. let me know thanks
September 29, 200520 yr Now, I get at the most 30 FPS. I just went in an empty server and got between 50 and 80. Intel P4 2.4 1 Gig Ram ATI X800XL vid card. What can I do? Can I overclock this baby or what? Need help. All setings are at low now and view dist at 95%. Shadows off.
September 29, 200520 yr if you change your video config often you should clear the cache. i read it on tweakguide that someone on here posted. finalize your video settings. exit the game. go to my documents/battlefield2/mods/bf2/cache (i think thats the directory) and delete everything in there. defrag your comp. go back in and join the server. it will optimize shaders once more but should run quite a bit smoother. http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_3.html read under clearing the shader optimizations other than that. i dunno lol.

Cool. Tanks. I'll try that, but leave in recycle bin just in case :peace:

I did that and it runs better but the FPS is the same sorta maybe a little bit higher. Thanks.
