what do you need to do to get the "ground defense" and "first aid" badges?

i havnt played the game yet

but i was looking at the badges and stuff

and i noticed you have to play a certain amount of "global hours"

but they take like 3000 i cant imagine you have to play for 3k hours for some of them

so how long is a global hour?

The medals and badges that require tons of global hours are the "advanced awards" there are basic awards that you get from a certain number of kills in a specific kit/vehicle. The reason the gold level badges require so many hours is to keep people playing for a long time. It's a pretty slick idea actually. Without something like this, no new games will have the longevity of half-life, for instance.
I was looking at that World Ranking site and I pkayed 700 something hours of FA in 1 year. That is roughly 2 hours per day. It would take mealmost 6 years to get 4000 hours. Is that worth an E medal? Hmmmmm.
