sigh, ok here it goes:

 

In an attempt to fix an issue where my game takes 5+ minutes to "verify client data" after connecting to a server, I reinstalled the game and patched it (manually, using cmd). Now, everytime I try and connect, it still hangs at verifying client data, but then it kicks me back to the browser saying that I need to remove my modified content and revert to the latest official version. WTH, I thought 1.02 was the latest? The only current version server filter says I am up to date.

    I don't think you manually patched it properly. Try reinstalling the patch and see if that fixes it.
