LocalProfile.setName "name" LocalProfile.setNick "{TAG}name{tag}" LocalProfile.setGamespyNick "name" (...) Also there's a rcon command "localProfile.setNick" which allows this! So, under "BFHQ" this Nick is shown, but during playing the ingame "Player List" & every ingame-message (like a team or kill-message) show only the account name... I know from different forum threads in the community that EA is aware of this problem and everyone has hoped that the latest patch would solve this issue. But it hasn't! Especially for Clan's it really anoying that such a basic feature isn't working! EA Technical Support So apparently you cannot change your name atleast at the moment I hear of possible changes down the road but I hear others that this will never happen. August 6, 200520 yr I've looked into changing the name quite a bit. You can't change your name at the moment, no way around it. I found the method you posted on the BF2 forums a couple of weeks ago, and I believe it only ends up changing the name in BFHQ. Hopefully the new patch will fix the name change.

August 7, 200520 yr perhaps the reason it wont change them is because of BF2 stats? you know because it might get confused or something. :/ I don't think it would be that hard of a fix all you would have to do is set the Database server that stores all this crap to sync up with your account and change the name. It already syncs up its just a different catagory that is being changed.
August 20, 200520 yr Author I know many people are put of joining a clan in BF2 because they are scared to lose all the points they have collected, well fear no longer, after gambling with my account, I've found a way to change your username without losing any points! Goto: https://www.gamespyid.com/index.aspx and log into the site using the email address (used to create the BF2 account) and your password (used for the game), the site will then log you in and give you an option to change the username of the account, add the [-PF-] tag and voila, you now have a spanking new tag. Your login details stay the same and the change is automatically done on the Gamespy ID servers. Another break thru for the [-PF-], brought to you by Bryer Laughing haven't tried this myself but maybe worth looking into?

TIP: never delete your old or last name because when you try to restore it, EA ask you the password... And when restored, all config are reseted but not the stat... Egidio.
