Battle for Middle Earth = Ownage

Featured Replies

Me r5a and a another buddy of mine have just played 2 straight Lan games of Battle of Middle Earth. I have to say its the best RTS i have ever played. Its ballenced, its fun, and its epic. Not only that but it looks great. The game isnt based around resources like WCIII or SC, but rather you build resouce gathering buildings that over time gain resources. The goal basicly is to gain more outposts and bases so you can build massive armies to demolish your enemies.

I really suggest everyone here head off to the local game store and look into getting this game, its simply the greatest RTS ive ever played. :(

OH MY ****ING GOD! RAPE DOWN! This game is massive!

they're making a sequel

and personally, I'll wait for Supreme Commander

havent heard of Supreme Commander before, i guess ill go to a quick google on it.
The game combines the very popular elements in C&C General's Generals abilities, Warcraft 3's hero style units and Rise Of Nations kind of gameplay. Plus it's themed around the LOTR series. What more could you ask for? The game itself has stunning visuals, probbaly the best I've ever seen. The gameplay is rather balanced and just the right speed (nothing too slow/fast) however, there are some parts where you just want to shoot yourself from frustration. LAN Friendly for sure.
one thing i didnt like was that you were locked in your build spots and couldnt set up out posts, but mordor was probly my favorite, free orcies and sweet siege equipment oh and the flying heros guys that were pretty much unstopable

I thought there was more strat because you had to kill off the other players, and that you were locked into outposts and camps/castles. It prevented people from just building 3 billion towers (coughwarcraftiiicough) or just sitting in your base and massing a full food army till theres only one enemy left (again coughwarcraftiiicough). Also, the power points were good, more strat. the only thing i really didnt like was how long a game could go one sometimes. the infinite resources ment you could just keep on rebuilding, even though its less frustrating if you run out of money, its a pain in the ass for the attacker.

I don't mind that that much tbh. You don't need to worry about peons or anything, thats awsome.

I love mordor too, they are the best and yeah, their hero is amazing.

hear hear, that game looks like it'll be decent, but will get too frustrating the longer the game goes on. it also seems like the learning curve will be horrible.
