Featured Replies

ya but who gets addicted to fps

i can see it now

no i need one more headshot

2seconds later

ok im done

but with mmorpgs everything takes forever

so one more hour is like 3 days

i can see it now. the interweb will be flooded with "h4x" for the system, so you can play for longer, or instead of halving, doubling.

During my last business meeting with Chinese one lady asked me what kind of the governement regulations of birth-control we have. She didn't ask me if there were any but she presumed that we have the same birth-control that is in China (you can't have more than 1 baby) or at least that we have some sort of birth-control. She wasn't surprised that we didn't have any regulations of that kind (well, she worked for intl. company), but she wouldn't be surprised if we did have some regulations.

The point is: they are used to it. They don't complain. They are well- organised country with well- organised people that's why they would rule the world :D I think we all should start playing as China forces in BF2 because it's our future. :p

It's not exactly like that. For example: some abide the rule of speed limit because they saw their friend dead in a car crash due to excessive speed, some feel comfortable with the speed-limit, some doesn't think if it's right or wrong with the 55 mph speed-limit (maybe it should be higher or lower? they don't care)- there's a rule and you have to comply to it, some are too frightened of the all-mighty highway patrol that they wouldn't drive faster. Some of course want to fight with this stupid rule but they fail. The same is in China. Add to it that you take the speed limit rule for granted because your father has to comply and your grandfather had to comply etc. etc.

Personally it wouldn't bother me a bit to only play 3 hr in a row then take 5 hrs off.i never really ever get the chance to play for longer anyways.
I knew someone who moved to America after living in China for a long time. He said one of the weirdest things to get used to in America was that people actually mean it when they smile. Guess that's why they play MORPGS so much. Apparently China is a pretty crummy place to live, at least by some accounts.

thats just plain sad. :[
It just seems to me that the only effective way of administrating a billion people is an authoritarian government like the one they have. I imagine it can be quite harsh, but I just cant see a true democracy working in China

Well, you've turned this into a political discussion but I agree with you so it's OK. Haha.

I think a time limit is probably a good personal practice to get into, but if I have a weekend and nothing to do, I don't think somebody should tell me I can't play a game I paid/pay for.

Maybe a weekly time limit would be more appropriate. Although, I expect it'll drive up demand for the games, and those who are really into them will just play multiple games, or connect to foreign or private servers.

yeah im sure the companys have some motive other than improving the health of the coutry, the only thing they care about is the health of their pocketbooks!

This is just another example of government encroaching on people's rights. The whole idea of this is to limit you from doing things that are bad for you. You can take the same idea and limit how much tobacco you smoke, how much fat food you eat, how much caffeine you drink (all things that are harmful to the body). It all sounds absurd, but when you give someone an inch, they ask for a mile. Even here in the US, we have such laws (mandatory wearing of seatbelts). The argument is that it's for your own safety, but by that same token, why not make helmets and other safety gear mandatory when you drive? Sounds silly, but so is forcing people to wear seatbelts.

Honestly, if people are foolish enough to die from playing video games, why force others who are able to manage their time wisely to suffer?

You're absolutely right, but consider this: in Poland when someone tried to sue tobacco company for 'insufficient information that smokin leads to cancer', he was first laughed out then he lost at the court. In US, the people won in the cases of the kind. The same with McDonald's, Coca-Cola etc.

First, get rid of the 'safety-belt is mandatory' and you will see the cases against car companies that they didn't warn that 'without a safety-belt you're less safe in your car in case of the accident'.

So your US 'freedom' is limited by the useful idiots (a.k.a. well, we all know who they are), law and the lawyers and cowardice of the managment of the big companies (most cases are settled via bargain).
