You will all be very surprised.

I added this after thinking about it.

You Don't need anti virus.

Save all suspected files in a folder on your "C" drive somewhere.

Use the Kapersky online scanner to scan the drive/folder once in a while.

I know I know there are .jpeg trojans/viri. Microsoft has eleiminated most of their threats and with the firewall plus MS Antispyware watching what scripts are run.YOU DONT NEED TO RUN ANTIVIRUS.

I never have and never will and never got infected by one.

The BEST Antivirus is YOUR Brain and that is FREE as well.

Great find Mac.

I had switched from AVG to Avast but it looks like I am going to give Kaspersky 5 a hard look.

I always liked Nortons but after installing I could see a MAJOR performance hit in games after I installed. Even after uninstalling nortons your system always seems to lag behind a little.

Exactly what I found and am running much better now.
I just tried the sample version of norton AV and noticed a HUGE difference in BF2 from it.

I use this virus scan to do monthly maitenance. Otherwise, I have no antivirus or spyware software running. Its a complete waste. Just do periodic checks, or when something isnt working right.

housecall sucks. AVG is good, the guy who made that is smoking crack. I DO THIS FOR A LIVING! And yes, the best AV is you. I use nothing, and my computer is fine.
I disagree. The best AV isn't going to be your brain. Let's say you get some kind of downloader and you don't notice for a few days. After a few days, it could really be a problem to get rid of everything it has done. It would be almost impossible for you to take care of anything without the assistance of atleast some kind of AV. (And it saves loads of time)

Well, I use Norton Antivirus and have never had an infection either, and I don't see a performance hit either (or at least not much of one). I shut it down for gaming too. Also note, I only use the Norton Antvirus, not the Internet securities which I would agree, is a BIG system hog. As to the comments that AV protection is not needed... I agree, the best defense is your brain, problem is, most don't have one when it comes to this. I feel confident that I could get by without it, but with other family members and kids, along with the possiblity of website born and accidental infections, it's not worth it. It only takes once to completely wreck years of information, and potentially (although not as common) hardware damage (ie. ruining harddrives). I personally will not recommend someone not using some sort of antivirus, as to free or not, you get what you pay for. I always recommend to my clients Norton Antivirus (not internet securities).
