September 27, 200520 yr Impossible to play dod:s : map differs from the server! Same problems remain like on cs:s but only 4 run byside the 16 officials???? Here, on dod:s, no one run on the 4 officials ???? Do not ask me to "deleter" it for that Steam will reload it, there are not in the "maps" folder from dod:s! Perhaps my pc is old now, 5 years old, or Steam crash onto this old pc : mobo A7V-133, Athlon xp 2000+, Asus fx 5700LE, 1 GB. of ram, Sound Blaster Live 5.1 what need more? I have the A7V8X-X who missing only 1 GB. of ram and a HD for to run it soon... Egidio.
September 27, 200520 yr Author I thought the problem become from the bus at 133 mhz. most of mobo are in 333 and 400 mhz. My agp is a 4X with a vidéo card 8X, perhaps the problem become also from the agp who is so slow??? Egidio.
September 27, 200520 yr you can cancel out it being your agp. all it basically does is not allow you to use your video card to its full potential. all the other things i doubt have anything to do with it.
September 27, 200520 yr That error has nothing to do with your computer specs. I don't understand what you said after that.
September 28, 200520 yr Author I found this: GCFSCAPE This "GCFSCAPE", it's a program who can extract the files from any .gcf compressed Steam files like dod:s .gcf and cs:s .gcf.... I extracted all the folders & files missing in my game(s) folders for to complete it: I will take you informed of the next tests... Egidio;
September 28, 200520 yr It's your comp. And yes, Bus Speed will effect the performance, but should not hinder you from playing the game. Find official specs from Valve on game reqs, then match yours up, here is my PC: AMD Athlon-64 3200+ (Socket 754, 2.2Ghz [not overclocked]) ASUS K8N MotherBoard (Bus speed 400, AGP 8x/4X, nForce3 250 Chipset) Antec ATX 480W PSU (Power Supply) Nvidia GeForce 6800GT (BFG Tech) 1.5GB Corsair XMS RAM (PC3200, 184 Pin) Onboard Sound (Asus has ***y onboard sound =D) Please post your specs. One thing that most people (even major PC manufacturers) don;t realize is that your hardware has to be compatible with your other hardware. The nForce3 250 chipset was specifically designed for the GeForce series, and also for maximum cmpatibility with Athlon processors. The Corsair XMS is specifically designed for high performance machines, and Asus recomends that RAM for their motherboards, because it is the shiznit =D (and it is the best RAM to maximize use of the Motherboards features). I built this baby, and it smokes. No problems, EVER. I get an average of 70-100FPS on CS:S and DOD:S.
September 29, 200520 yr Author The sepcs are in the first post upper... Rams are 2 * 512 MB. Apacer pc133. Egidio.
September 30, 200520 yr Reinstall Steam BTD. Reload DOD:S Make sure you put it in a new folder. In other words. Delete your old Steam folder before reinstalling.

If I uninstall Steam and reinstall it, this will take again 1 month for redownload all mods by Steam... Yesterday, I purchased the 1 GB. in 2 Kingstone rams pc3200/512MB. each and a 80GB. hd Maxtor and I have already a second 120GB. hd Maxtor for the new mobo and Tuesday, I will purchase the Plextor dvd reader & the Plextor dvd writer in double layer both with black front for the black Thermaltake tower and the new pc will be assembled and running for the next Wenesday or Thursday if all will be alright! (from my son), Sound Blaster Live 5.1 (from my son) [or the onboard sound chip], C:\ =hd 80GB., D:\ =hd 120GB., black dvd reader Plextor, black dvd writer Plextor, black floppy 3"1/2, cpu fan cooler Thermaltake Volcano 7, black Thermaltake XaserII lightning tower (from my son too). My son (Psy4) purchased a new black Thermaltake tower named Kandalf, a new Sound Blaster AudigyII and a new video card fx6800 Ultra 256MB (<-- 600€ only the vc!).... He have a nice computer: a monster! If enough money, I will change the Sound Blaster Live 5.1 by a 7.1 or a Sound Blaster AudigyII or Audigy3 or Audigy4... Egidio.
October 1, 200520 yr Author wow, a month for each? Yes, 1 month each for cs:s and hl2 for me: I don't know why but my son downloaded the cs:s in 5 minutes when I paid with my credit card for him???? When dod:s was in pre-loading, I go it in 15 minutes because I was the first who have reseted my old pc few minutes after midnight here (yes, again a pc crash) and Steam displayed a post that dod:s is in pre-loading and when launched the download, I informed all the TAC Members and some french friends from France that dod:s was in pre-loading... My son downloaded dod:s the next day in 5 minutes only???? Strange isn't it? But I think with the new mobo, this will take few minutes like my son (A7N8X) and his high school friend who have the same mobo like my new one (A7V8X-X)... Egidio.
October 2, 200520 yr Author http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=347573 From the link:"Go to <Steam Directory>\SteamApps\<account name>\day of defeat source\dod\maps. If there is a file called dod_donner in there, delete it. Then try to play again." I have no one map in this folder, also in the cs:s, I don't have one of the official maps in the folder ? Strange ? Egidio.
