I have problems with the new patch. I get a "CD Serial Number Error", if i am trying to connect to a server. I have checked the support pages, i have reinstalled BF2.. nothing works.. The last thing i know, would be to reinstall WIN XP and try to install it on a fresh system, but i hate this method, because it goes so long.. It works fine with the old Patch.. But if i am installing the new patch, the error mentioned is comming.. I think i give it up..

You need to edit your registry.

 

goto start, run, regedit, hkey local machine, sofware, Electronic arts, ea games, BF2, ergc, and make sure the key there is correct (w/o the dashes of course).

Uninstall the game.

 

Follow the above instructions for hkey local mach except delete the BF2 folder under the Electronic Arts registry entry.

 

Delete the Dice folder in the registry right above the Electronic Arts in Hkey local Mach.

 

Then look in Hkey current user for any of the above. It may be under EA Games not Electronic Arts. Do the same here if you can find a BF2 folder there. Delete any BF2 or Dice folder registry/value.

 

Delete your folder in My Documents called BF2.

 

In your program files folder where you installed the game on your hard drive. Delete the BF2 folder there as well.

 

You can also goto edit, find, BF2. Then do it this way as well.

 

Reinstall the game and see what happens. Patch it too.

Thanks for the help Mac. I have already done that, but it hasnt worked. Some minutes ago, i have found the solution on a german forum site:

 

Start the patch again (already must have done the patch once)

Choose language

If the "welcome" window appears, wait and do nothing

open run and type in %temp%, press enter

There is a new folder at the end, like {03a9..................

there is a second folder in there

open it

file BF2CDKeyCheck.exe

start the file

cancel patch

 

AND NOW:

 

IT WORKS :o
