December 22, 200520 yr So.... you are walkin around in the woods, your heart is beating, you are being chased by 2 enemy teammates. You have half a hopper full of paintballs left. Shots fly past you and thud into trees. You dive behind a log and return fire. Bam Bam Bam! Click....no more CO2. What do you say? @$!& Im out! Well, my friends, REJOICE! http://tippmann.com/product_guide/markerDetails.aspx?categoryid=4 If you dont want to go there and read it, you should. It is a pump gun powered by....yes....PROPANE! So, you say, how many shots do I get out of 1 propane tank (16 oz tank)? I answer: 50,000 yes you read that right 50,000 shots from 1 fill up. It doesnt cost much at all. You can buy a 16 oz propane tank for about $5 and fill it up for much less than CO2 tanks (or nitrogen as well I suspect) anyways, I may get one. that is a lot of saved money on CO2!
December 22, 200520 yr The propane idea is pretty cool, I saw this product in an article of Popular Science. I don't think a pump gun, no matter how many shots were available, would provide for as cool an experience as a semi-automatic gun would though.
December 22, 200520 yr more fun in a pump gun and it slows the game down and you don't pin someone to a tree with the pump
December 22, 200520 yr I'd get it if I didn't already own a Tippmann A-5 But in reality, wouldn't you prefer the A-5 anyways? It's just... cooler /Has an A-5 as well and doesn't regret buying it
December 22, 200520 yr The A-5 is pretty awesome, but I'd like the new one as backup in case I run out of CO2
December 22, 200520 yr i still prefer my custiom 98... \decked out with bi-pod, m4 stock, 21" rifled siniper barrel, and lapco silencer, Responce trigger, and cyclone feed adaptor, with a 340 rnd hopper
December 22, 200520 yr The A-5 is pretty awesome, but I'd like the new one as backup in case I run out of CO2 If you're into mil-sim you might want to check this out... http://www.ariakon.com/overlord.asp My friends have em and they're nice and accurate. A good backup. Might help you finish the round anyways Only get it if you really take care of your markers though, they aren't nearly as durable as tippmanns.
December 22, 200520 yr i currently own a pt-extreme jr pistol that i fixed up with a bottom line adaptor. it's a pretty good gun but i agree that the overlord is a good sidearm. http://www.rap4.com/pursuit/ http://www.specialopspaintball.com/shop/index.asp http://www.rustyspaintballgear.com/rs/catalog/division.asp?divis=Paintball

Know your gas..... Don't store in areas over 125F like next to a heater or campfire. Don't smoke while playing or you'll quit smoking real fast. Don't service a leaky container - replace. Don't use screwdrivers or other sharp tools on gun or canister. Use only odorized propane so you'll know its leaking. If you're getting dizzy from the gas - you're suffocating. Don't try to make your gun a flame thrower - doesn't work that way. http://www.puyallupfire.com/lepc/propane.htm Merc
December 22, 200520 yr Author Actually if you are into military sim guns then Tippmann actually makes 2 (I didnt know this till yesterday) of them, just modded a5 and modded custom 98s. AK:http://www.paintball-discounters.com/get_item_040215a.htm M4ish: http://www.paintball-discounters.com/get_item_000201f_tippmann-model-98-custom-bt-commando-gun-package.htm But yeah I like playing with pump guns. I never play speedball so its all good.
December 22, 200520 yr Just don't smoke around it but really, I've never run out of C02 in a game before, the chances that you would are minimal
December 22, 200520 yr I have run out of CO2 before. When you waste two or three hoppers a round. This will happen. I carry a spare 9oz tank just in case. I use a 12oz for my main. As far as the propane gas and its restrictions. Co2 and other compressed gases have 125deg temp constraints b/c of storage issues and other limitations. All can kill by ephyxiation. Propane is just flamable. I look forward to conversion kits if possible.
December 22, 200520 yr Maybe Im wrong, but Im guessing a lot of you have not smelled Propane before. It STINKS, you might be a little burst of it here and there but that smell isnt one you can put up with. its a cool idea however.
December 23, 200520 yr I will stick with my Custom Pro, thanks i agree with Wheat... besides propane as a paintball propellant is EXPERIMENTAL... in example lets just say that a n00b on the field hasnt replaced the O-ring on his tank..... midmatch it gives way and causes leakage.... what would you prefer happens? propane leakage causes fire/explosion... or co2 sprays around and just feels cold.... personally i would rather get cold then have some kid's flatline barrel lodged in my skull from some freak accident.... also if you're having air problems, just do what i did... get a tank adaptor that has an on/off valve and rig two tanks into the same remote-line with a T knuckle and some steel mesh tubing... while wearing them both on your back/leg (in a harness) if tank 1 were to run out durring game play, all you have to do is turn tank 1 to the Off position then turn on tank 2.... in .83 seconds or less you'll have a fresh air supply... if you build it make sure to use lock tight or the kevlar tape (i reccomend the tape as you dont have to wait for it to dry, also it's good to have around for quick fixes)
December 23, 200520 yr Author White, Im pretty sure that they wouldnt have released the gun if they hadnt tested it safety wise. And its not neccessarily running out of CO2 that is the problem. Its paying for more. I have a 14 oz CO2. I get 500-600 shots out of one tank. It takes about $5 to fill up the tank. Ok, so I will say 600 shots per tank, compared to 50,000. How much does a 16oz of propane take to fill? (I know its not much at all). Anyways, to get 50,000 shots from the 14oz it takes about 84 refills. Thats $5 a refill. Thats $420 on CO2! Now do you see why propane is good? It can save you over $400. Thats good enough for me.
December 23, 200520 yr Pays for the gun which is smart marketing. Now to install a timed piezo igniter at the muzzle to make it look really cool when it fires.
