Featured Replies

Hey everyone..

Tomorrow, I'm going to see the dentist to get a root canal done on one of my tooth.. has anyone ever got a root canal done on one of their tooth? Let me know how your experience was like. Otherwise.. wish me luck... and if it hurts.. I wiill not shed a tear because I'll be thinking of this in my head several times.. "doing it for my benifit and doing it for the armory" :D hope this operation will be successful...

Root canals is no joke. Hurts like hell.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth pulled out on the same day. I was numbed up pretty good but it didn't last long.

Dude I went through one a while back and lost a deep filling the other day. Looks like it maybe another one....

No big deal really...it depends on the dentist I guess. Make sure you ask for the gas though...

I had never had it before but let me tell you I wouldnt do it without it. THe gas is good stuff!

Yep if you have a good specialist no problem.

I didn't feel a thing at my root canal. Just the annoying filing of the root was a little boring too cuz it takes a while.

Thanks for cheering me up Klink... but I am going to trust your word on it... :D

I had one when I was around the young suple age of 10 (give or take 2-3 years). First dentist I had, she sucked hardcore. Kept hurting me, wasn't taking her time. Just went for it. Hell, I even smacked her upside the head rofl.

Switched dentist to some guy. He was much better. More experienced dentist, had more than one helper and took his time and PROPERLY numbed the root canal area and I wasn't in much pain if any. So it does depend on your dentist. Also remember, this was when I was a kid. Children tend to exaggerate *sp?* pain.

Final sucky part was getting the crown put in. That cement paste whatever stuff taste NASTY as all hell. Just having my tongue get in contact for it for a brief second made me gag. lol

Other than that. That's my experience and best wishes go out to you for your lil adventure haha.

And for the boring parts of it. I guess you could bring an iPod or something or see if they support playing movies/tv. lol

Oh ya, cold air from the drills suck when your tooth is open. >.<

Gl btw!

Well I've had one, by a military dentist, didnt feel a thing. They used the gas and it was much better than the novacaine...

Wisdom teeth was the same way, I actually had 5 wisdom teeth and didnt feel a thing with removal, other than SEEING him with a hammer and chisle and the movement of my head when he was hammering through it wasn't bad.

I have had 4 root canals, I had one done on the wrong tooth, thanks to the United States Navy. They arn't too bad, I have never had the gas, but I heard its the way to go. I will ask next time. The crown fitting is no fun either. Well you will just have to find out for yourself, I am sure you will be fine.
Well I hate to be the one with bad news... but mine hurt like a ***$#@$% *&E##^@@$ Dentist said I have horse roots, and 1 tooth took 21 shots of novacane... yummy...

they suk,but not that bad(if you like to sit with your mouth open for over a hour while the dood drills non-stop.)

lol.. sheesh.. I wish I had a hot nurse.. anyways.. I'm back from the dentist.. he said that it was very hard to control the bleeding as the abscess and the infection was very severe. It was so severe that the doctor had to give me 3 shots of anesthetics before he could operate in my mouth and that I could not feel a thing in the tooth that was infected.. Otherwise.. my left jaw is very sore and numb from the drilling in my tooth and holding it open for the doc to operate in my mouth. Overall.. my doctor opened up the tooth took out all the abscess and the infection, re-shapened my root canals and left it open for some breathing room. So on January 10th, the doctor will re-shape the root canal, take out more of the abscess and top off the hole with a filling.... So thank you all for your support but remember.. this is only half finished so I will need more support for the second portion of the operation on January 10th.. Thanks!
They've put you through hell. Didn't they put you on antibiotics for at least a week prior? That would have knocked down that infection and the pain like no pain pill can. I've had one and my wife has had two root canals. Both of hers were due to another dentists error. Anyway, neither of us ever felt a thing. If yours was in that bad of shape they should have sent you to an Endodontist. We left with temporary crowns and root canal complete. The worst part was the bill $750 root canal, and $1200 for the crown. Now that's some pain man!

Ouch River... It was severe.. but it was able to be taken care of by a dental surgeon and I did get some amoxicillin for the abscess... prior to the operation.. but I don't think that did any good
"Get gased". No biggy. Use antibacterial/flouride toothpaste, floss thru/around gun lline and out between teeth, antibacterial/flouride mouthwash ... and you may never have a problem again. And avoid sugar and other carbs without rinsing well soon afterwards. :D Sugar and carbs like breads feed bacteria in mouth which secrete acid from feeding that decays and infects teeh and gums. :(
