I just had my temp crown taken off yesterday and my perm crown put on yesterday. No meds needed...it was painless. A little funny felling when they took the pliers (sp) to the temp to pull it off. The glues taste like crud but I was used to that having braces as a kid.

On a side note my filling I lost over the holidays is something else the Doc looked at and doesnt think I am going to have another rooter. ;) I was happy about that.

The key for anyone who hasnt had one of these is GAS....GAS is your friend. I had never had it before but it is good stuff!!!!!!!!

hell I even went back to work after all of this. My Lt couldnt believe it after I come in after the root canal. I even went on a search warrant. Just have to man up. I dont believe in pain meds unless you are about to have to go to the hospital.

man, im horrible with my teeth. when i brush its only because i have bad breath. i chew gum alot, i drink tons of pop, eat lots of bread etc. yet, ive never had a cavity, ive never had a root canal, my dentist says my wisdoms are gunna come in perfectly. only problem ive ever had is that a chip of one of my tooth came off, but that was a quick fix. sorry to hear about your teeth man, good luck.

too late Hogan... ;) lol, just kidding.. but i got new medications to calm the pain.. they're called acetaminophen with codeine compound (a.k.a Tylenol no.3 30 mg) and Clindamycin HCL (a.k.a ratio clindamycin). Apparently, tylenol 3 is a more effective and stronger version of the typical tylenol that anyone else uses and apparently it can cause drowsyness.. : /...uh oh. so hopefully these medications can calm my pain.. let's just pray that they do :D

i just got back from the dentist and my face is frozen... again lol but i got a more comfortable filling but it hurt like hell getting the filling to properly fit in the drilled out hole.. I was like :D when i felt pain hence the anaesthetics in the operated area..how rough eh?

While I've never had a root canal done, I have had all four of my wisdom teeth out just last October. Didn't hurt at all since I was totally knocked out for the proceedure. But two of the blood clots that are supposed to form in the empty sockets didn't. I had what they call "dry sockets" with the nerve exposed. They said I was supposed to be in alot of pain, but I wasn't...Thank God!! It wasn't fun though since I had to go back to the dentist every other day and have a four inch string of gauze stuffed into the two bottom holes....now THAT was painful for the first two times. Good luck on the root canal.
