annoying problem

Featured Replies

I know many people dont really play css anymore but i've recently been getting back into it and cannot play do to my game crashing. It usually locks up during parcing game info/retrieving info from the server, but if i do manage to connect to the server it usually just freezes the second i join a team. It very rarely works and lets me play for a few hours. On occasion it crashes with "failed to lock index buffer in CSMeshDX8;;LockIndexBuffer" error. I've tried posting in the steam forums but no one seems to be able to help. I searched and that particular error seems to be with the resolutoin of your screen and it changing to play css but i have not been able to fix it. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix this?

my only solution would be to reinstall css

i've reinstalled css and steam, no luck. Everything was fine before i started playing bf2. It was fine in june, but when i started playing again it wont work. Its weird because i can play in a surf maps server and everything is fine with no problems, but when i play in a regular server i have these problems.

Reinstall DX9.0c

Update your Mobo drivers too if you can.

Try that.

i'll give that a try and see how it works out.

Egidio.

After I updated my nvidia 5200xl drivers last june, to try and improve bf2 performance, I had similar probs with css and fa. I had to change them from opengl to d3d. Something about newer drivers won't let css and fa work well if they still set for opengl. Only prob is can't see my sprays, though others say they do. Otherwise works fine in d3d.

NOOOOOOO!!! Don't uninstall CS:S forever!! We love having you hang out on our server. I didn't know you were still having problems with your computer. We just didn't know where you were. Hopefully after a reinstall of the game and the directX9 everything will be working better. I hope to see you on-line soon.

I don't understand "surf maps" ?

I noticed in your original post of error it showed mention of dx8. Wondering about that.

Also, I recall from way back, a time when I needed desktop res same as in game res to stop a similar prob with something which I no longer have. So maybe try css set for d3d 800 and have desktop also at 800 res to have desk and game same res. Also, incase the d3d config in registry or game is messed up, maybe try opengl mode in game video settings at various resolutions.

I suspect maybe something needs to be turned on or off in properties of video card settings. As this could also relate to the video driver version in use, maybe try newer or older driver versions, being sure to fully uninstall, reboot, delete remaining video card software, clean registry, reboot, reinstall other video driver and software.

By the way, what is your system hardware, software and driver specs ?
