Does anyone around here box or has anyone ever boxed before? Me and some of my friends had some boxing matches tonight (we've had em before) with 2 minute rounds and just playin best out of 3 rounds.

After 1 round you dont feel like lifting your arms anymore.

We dont really have any style, we just kinda go at it. Fun. I got my nose busted tonight and bled everywhere, but everyone said it was a close fight. Kinda hard to tell when you are in it.

But I just dont see how boxers can go 12 rounds without just dragging their feet around and dropping their arms. They have GOT to have some crazy stamina for that.

LOL!!! Boxing.

Well here is something I can maybe help you with a little.

Yea, i've done boxing as well as kick-boxing. I wasn't to shabby to say the least, but a friend of mine could do circles around me. If you can't lift your arms by the end of round one. Your not throwing enough with your body and to much with your arms. Also, throwing with your a punch/kick with your body well generate a hell of a lot more power. Plus, when throwing a punch always keep your head moving. Don't ever stop moving your head. Never let your arms drop below your chin. As you found out tonight. Getting hit there hurts wee bit. Getting hit in the jaw hurts more though so always keep your mouth closed. If you really want to make your oppenant feel bad the next day. Don't go for the face, but for the arms and body. I would say legs if your in kick boxing and are going by those rules. The nose does hurt I will say that, but it sucks a lot more to feel pain everytime you breath or move your body. Your nose is stationary. Another thing is do combos. a 1,2,3 combo is always good. jab, cross, hook. Or, jab, jab, cross, hook, uppercut. If you want some more tips let me know. Otherwise good luck!

You know what really freakin hurts, is a slap shot to the jaw. Yes sir, I received one of those and it still bothers me and that was a few years back.

My friend that kick boxed for a few years. Went to a match of his other friend also training unders the same person. The guy did a spin kick and landed it on the oppenants face. Knocking six teeth and him completely.
just dont hold back, when you fight you need to fight to win, not just for fun, and like Phrogg said go for the nose, the nose hurts.
i dont box, i know Tae Kwon Do, fun but make sure to gurae your face throat. I got kicked in the throat not fun.

Thanks phrogg Ill try to keep taht in mind next time I box.

And generally in our fights everyone just goes for headshots, nobody tries to work the body. My friend who I was boxing has long arms, so it was hard for me to get inside. But in the third round I decided to hit at his body to 1) maybe get a good gut shot in and 2) maybe get him to move his hands down from his face to block the low shot.

#2 worked. He moved his arms and I got in a pretty good straight right to his face.

His hit to my nose didnt really hurt. I would have kept fighting if blood wasnt gushing out of my nose.

If he has longer arms then you you definately need to get in close. The bad part about that is, is that you will probably take a few hits to get in close. Once in though, his power will reduce a bit which is good. Now on your part don't go crazy by throwing lots of punches. You will tire out and then get kocked out. Your going to have to throw a few obviously, but try to use misdirection and keep moving. It takes more energy to throw and miss, then to throw a punch/kick and hit.
Any Boxers Aboot?

i keep my boxers in a drawer, not my boots.

i dont box, but its not for a lack of trying. its hard to find a partner when youre 6'4" and 275lbs ;)
