Posted February 6, 200619 yr I wish to LEGITIMATELY make LEGITIMATE back-up copies of my LEGITIMATELY owned DVDs. What programs, money-is-no-object, would you suggest I use? Ideally, I'm talking one program that will bypass copy-protection and copy from one DVD drive to another in one fell swoop. LEGITIMATE Little Help?
February 6, 200619 yr look for dvd-shrink and dvd decryptor they work quite well. dunno if they are easy to come by anymore http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm http://www.mrbass.org/dvdshrink/ best i can do. dunno if dvd decryptor works anymore as the guy who created it has been told to cease all creation and distribution of the software. i linked you to his site and thats all i can do. hope it helps somewhat
February 6, 200619 yr There is some autorized program for to cpoy your own purchased originals cd & dvd here: http://www.elby.ch/en/products/clone_dvd/index.html = Clonedvd for dvd movies backups but you need Anydvd protections cracker with Clonedvd here: http://www.slysoft.com/en/ And the last, the Clonecd/dvd for to backup any cd (datas or audios) and dvd (datas) here: http://www.slysoft.com/en/ = the same as Anydvd. But you need to register them for to use them more than in trial mode! Some use the "Alcohol 120%" for any backups too... Egidio.

February 6, 200619 yr You are allowed to copy for personal use only if I am not mistaken. Unless that is different that CD ownership.
February 6, 200619 yr i used dvddecrypter in the past, but their main website was shutdown because it was being used for other intentions.
February 7, 200619 yr You are allowed to copy for personal use only if I am not mistaken. Unless that is different that CD ownership. thats what is believed, but accually, anything that bypasses the copy-protection (whether you own it or not), its still considered illegal. its a touchy subject, but that is what is offically on paper.
February 7, 200619 yr Technically, you're not, and you are. There are conflicting laws. It's illegal (According to the DMCA) to circumvent anti-piracy measures, but it's legal for you to make a back-up, as long as you own it. It's nonsensical. Hopefully, they'll do away with the DMCA.
February 7, 200619 yr i use DVD xpress copy. If you own the DVD, the copy comes up saying its a backup copy. So as long as you don't sell it it would be okay. It's a touchy subject. But you can backup your original copies, but can't give or sell them to anyone.
February 8, 200619 yr Well I originally just pmed Klif because I wasnt sure how long this would stay up. I was one of the first beta testers of DVDXCopy pre-alpha. It was an awsome program when it come out, but today the ONLY way to do it IMHO is to use two programs. It is much easier than trying to learn some of the programs listed and works flawlessly. - Get AnyDVD which is a program that decrypts DVDs in the background automatically as long as it is running in the task bar. - Get DVDshrink which is FREE and the click backup. It will create the new files ready to burn. If you have Nero already it will even start the burn for you.
February 8, 200619 yr having backups of what you already own is not illegal, but bypassing copy protection is. so it doesnt matter if you own a copy or not, its still illegal if you/your software bypasses any copy protection. dvdxcopy argued this... and lost. even though you had to agree that it wasnt rented or borrowed, the software still bypassed copy protection. that caused it to be taken off the shelves.
February 9, 200619 yr Forgot to type that "Anydvd" also transform any dvd zone in your dvd zone: like it change a dvd movie area 2 in a backuped dvd movie area 1 ! Egidio.
February 9, 200619 yr hmmmm ... thanks for input on where to find legal free samples. it can only help interest in the products.

You may be able to get a ripping copy here - I have older versions and they were legit in getting my older software reinstalled when I moved PC's. Merc http://www.dvdxcopy-international.ca/v5s.html
