February 19, 200619 yr Author I know I thought the same thing too! Apparently it's still a big thing in Japan. TigerHawk...I love your reaction, lol!
February 19, 200619 yr i thought the pokemon fad died like 3 years ago Same.... Couldn't imagine that doing well over here in the states :/.
February 19, 200619 yr Actually, Pokemon games held 3 of the top 10 most sold games in the US alone last year. Those same 3 were top 10 for Japan as well. The pokemon fad hasn't died, just taken a silent step away from the spot light. (Numbers game from GameInformer)
February 19, 200619 yr No, the pokemon we get in the US sucks. Well, the current one in Japan sucks too, but the original pokemon was actually pretty mature, and was not devoid of violence and adult humor/situations at all. If memory serves me correct (I havent read the original pokemon manga in like, 6 years), there was actually a war going on, and that is what incited the use of Pokemon as combatants. Unfortunately, the prospect of using pets to fight wars doesn't sit well with a lot of the people in the US, therefore, in order to market the title in the US, they had to "Kiddie it down". All the animations are the kiddied down versions, and so are all the games. But if you watch the episodes closely (and if you played any of the games, I know I did), you will see A LOT of references to the past war. Soldiers from the war, Raichu (Pikachu's evolved form) was born from the war, and so were a lot of "un-natural" evolutions. And yes, I did play the games way too much. But what can I say? It beat paying attention in english class  .

February 20, 200619 yr by "girlfriend" do you mean "girl on the cover of victoria's secret"? That reminds me of Little Nicky for some reason.
February 20, 200619 yr A poke'mon theme park...that picture was just scary sereously i thought poke'mon died a long time ago but apperently japan still is crazy about it.
February 20, 200619 yr i can see why the pokemon games were so successful though.... they were easy to learn, TONS of replay, sequels were easy to push out, and people could exchange their unique pokemon with each other. instead of saying pokemon is teh suk, you guys should be examining what makes the franchise so successful... you should be looking at everything like that. you might end up with your own theme park in 20 years >.<
February 20, 200619 yr TAC theme park! The Flipster ride! It could be like a river rampage, with flipster shooting you with a water AK going Dude, like, I want my pizza! And then the gator rollercoaster....... The Wheat bun food stand!
