Posted March 14, 200619 yr Ive been told that political stuff isnt allowed here, and this is not meant to be such, it is just a reference. If it isnt allowed then thats fine, I just thought it was interesting. this is a reference to the Revelations from the bible. Just interesting, not trying to be religious or anything. Bear with me. in Revelations 9-11 it talks about an angel (or demon, unclear) named Abaddon (in greek Apollyon) which means "Destroyer" I just thought that it was intriguing because of 911 and Sept 11. I donno if this has been said before by someone either, but it was a new thing to me. sorry if this is against the rules, dont hesitate to delete it if the need be
March 14, 200619 yr My birthday is on the 4th and my wifes birthday is on the 28th and if you subtract them you get 7 which is the number of perfection in the bible. Does it mean we have a perfect marriage? I believe it is divide not subtract. LOLOLOL.
March 14, 200619 yr Author Im not saying that it means anything at all Im just saying I thought it was interesting that it introduces "The Destroyer" in chapter 9-11. and I just didnt know if this kind of stuff (religion/political related stuff) was allowed here. And I would think that some of the support beams would fall like crosses, nothing really wierd there. and I saw that "demon in the smoke" picture but I didnt see it on tv, so it couldve easily been Photoshopped.

And also, our eye's can play tricks on us a lot. When a few people notice that it looks kind of like it, they tell a bunch of other people and they then see it. However, if they didn't even hear about it they wouldn't have noticed.
March 14, 200619 yr D: D: D: D:! 9+1+1=11!!!! Conspiracy!!! If you take teh year, 2001...and subtract 1000, then subtract 900 (9 being SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!) you get 9/11!!!!!!!!
March 14, 200619 yr Not to flame the Bible or anything here, but there are things ALL OVER that are JUST like what you're describing. What happens is a bunch of fellows get together and decide "omg, we have to find a way to make this be in the bible!" (JPenn gave some good examples of how one could do this.) I've seen books a good 15 inches thick that claim that each and every event in human history was prewritten in the Bible. Doubtful... There are sites out that claim Barney the Dinosaur is the antichrist and have direct references to the bible that can agree with that. I think it has something to do with taking the roman numerals in his name or something...I'll edit if I find the site. In closing, I don't believe anything like this at all...coincidence is what it is.
March 14, 200619 yr im a history major and an agnostic, so take this with that in mind. christians are crazy(i know, i used to be one). sure they arent killing people for the promise of 70 virgins, but they are crazy none the less. i could list reasons, but people would probably just get insulted and we dont need that. but with that said, i group christians with those who worship cows, spend their entire life waiting for enlightenment or walk circles around a giant onyx cube in the desert. the logic of the illogical, etc, etc. its part of human nature to read deeper into events and try to link them to themselves somehow. i think id be more suprised if they didnt say things about demons and devils and numbers after 9-11.
March 14, 200619 yr oh i know. at LSU there is a spot in front of the student union called free speech alley. normally there is some mormon group or some christian fundamentalist preaching to passers-by...then one day i came across a guy who was just screaming at the top of his lungs how incorrect all religions were. i asked him what faith he subscribed to...he said he was agnostic. i told him he was just as bad as the christian groups that come do the same thing and he completely lost it. i have no idea what he was yelling afterwards because he was so enraged he couldnt make any sense so i just walked off, giggling to myself. it was quite hilarious. Glad I'm not like any of the Christians that influenced your perception. oh, but you are those who worship cows, spend their entire life waiting for enlightenment or walk circles around a giant onyx cube in the desert. hindu hold cows sacred, budist wait for enlightenment and muslins visit mecca
March 14, 200619 yr christians are crazy(i know, i used to be one). sure they arent killing people for the promise of 70 virgins, but they are crazy none the less. Yeah, you want to shut up right about now?Don't generlize the rocking-chair preachers with the acutal people
March 14, 200619 yr LOL Caste. "rocking chair preachers". LOL ...........Ah cool ur jets. True dat. We're all examples. Generalizations hardly work these days which means work. Work to research and observe things over a period of time..... I'd like to be there when those crazies are screaming hell fire and brimestone. HAHAHAHA. Only one thing to say to that last sentence... LOL

March 15, 200619 yr i could list reasons, but people would probably just get insulted and we dont need that. but with that said, i group christians with those who worship cows, spend their entire life waiting for enlightenment or walk circles around a giant onyx cube in the desert. the logic of the illogical, etc, etc. IMO the bottom line is: you cannot prove anything. Every thesis is built on a tenet. Every proof requires a presumption, example: "let's say: God exists", "let's say: 1=truth and 0=false" etc. As you see logic (and maths) isn't free of the 'superstitions', 'presumptions', 'things that cannot be proved to the end'. I've seen great definitions of substances that could be in two places at the same time, seems illogical? I didn't find it in Bible, though, but in the physics magazine. Why do you think that your tenet (whatever it is) is better than others? Why do you patronize? Be proud of being agnostic, leave the others alone, please. Why can't you? As a historian, I'm sure you know who said that there's no ultimate proof, so every 'truth' has the same 'power'. As of the 9/11 in Bible: 1. it's US-centric point of view. US isn't the center of the world, although 'Americanos' believe it is no offense here, really. BTW: isn't 'believe' a funny word in that discussion? AFAIK USA isn't mentioned in Bible. It's not 'the most Christian country in the world' (whatever it could mean) so why Bible should say anything about it? 2. Bible didn't say anything of (for example) the December 2004 Tsunami (more than 180.000 dead, more than 40.000 missing). 3. 9/11 wasn't the-biggest-catastrophy-made-by-a-group-of-men-to-the-other-group in the history. Think of I and II WW (Hiroshima included). Think of Pol-Pot's regime. 3. IMO 12/7/1941 (Pearl Harbour) would suit better here. It was an attack of the non-Christians (and Politheists) on the Christian country (then). It was a sneak attack ('sneak'-'snake' resemblance). 2000 dead. etc. etc. 2. AFAIK there were some major changes in calendar since then.
March 15, 200619 yr Author Im not saying that this has anything to do with prophesies or anything like that. In fact it wouldnt even make since in the context of the verse, as it is just identifying the angel/demon Apollyon. I just found it an interesting coincidence that it was in revelations 9-11. I had heard of Apollyon/Abaddon before I just didnt realize that it was in that particular verse, and the number 9-11 automatically triggers the thoughts of september 11th in my brain, so I just thought it to be intriguing.
March 15, 200619 yr I always look at it as pure dumb luck. Prophecies in general are made by individuals with some fair intelligence they make A general hypothesis and down the road they or someone will say they were right... the only prophecy I subscribe too is "When will you die?" everyone dies everyone. Its just how you exist that makes the difference.
March 15, 200619 yr http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/d9/Ekoadewale.jpg As Mr.Eko would say: Do not confuse fate with coincidence
March 15, 200619 yr Yeah, you want to shut up right about now? Don't generlize the rocking-chair preachers with the acutal people oh you make me giggle. well, i was trying to make a point and i dont feel it was grasped. i had something rather lengthy typed out, but people read far too deeply into things, just to find some way to be offended and to be able to lash out, so ill stop there. feel free to send me a PM if youd like to continue, but i wont do it here.
March 15, 200619 yr Okay...back on task (I think) First: WOOO I CAN GET ON THE FOURMS AGAIN! Thanks gator Second: Pictures of the smoke/demon thing?
