Now one will have to wait until November to purchase a PS3. Thoughts?

I wasn't really sure about all the next gen stuff. I've been a sony person for a while, ps1, ps2 ,psp etc.. But unless they can get the playstation hub(their version of live) up and running good then im probably not getting it. Ps2 online was terrible, they need a unified service. I knew it would be pushed back anyway. A spring launch was unrealistic. Im not really sure if im going to be buying any of them, you still can't even buy an xbox around here. Still sold out at most of the stores. I will wait until the details of ps3 are finalized before i make my decision.

why is sony doing such stupid stuff?

 

1. blu-ray format? expensive, modding community hates that, and it will force higher prices for games. ntm the fact... how many multi dvd disk games are there even now. not enough to justify needing larger capacity disks. the only reason they have this is for the built in copywrite.

 

2. their fancy 7 cell cpu? first of all sony is known for putting something on paper then under delivering in the end. next... why? really why?

 

3. $$$$? omg they say potencially pushing 1000$ now? who the hell would be stupid enough to pay that... its not like the screens from the ps3 games even look any better than the x360....

 

Its been predicted that it would be delayed because of the copyright issues in the blu-ray and the too expensive manufacuring cost... why they are 'putting their cart infront of the horse' i dont know. blu-ray isnt in yet, you cant force it into a market like this either. dvd was around almost 10 years before dvd players 'came into play' (no pun intended).

 

scrap the stupid junk sony! no-one wants your copyprotection hardware anyhow! jump on the bandwagon and start making some money again.

i think i will wait but i definatly will not buy it when it is coming out. Have to wait for the price to drop:). But i do think that i will eventually get it seeing how i love there game controller. To me it is extremely easier to use compared to any other current system .

ill just save up for comp stuff. but really ps3 and ea have stuff in common...lol i really shouldnt talk because the only console ive owned was a n64

N64 is all that is played in my tower. Mario Kart 64 is the game.

i think you left out the whole DRM fiasco gotta love uninvited and unwanted software that installs itself on your PC and leaves giant gaping security holes in your windows just because you wanted to listen to a CD.

The only way I can see Playstaion 3 being an instant hit is if they hammer out a reasonalbe price on the Playstation 3 and make sure that they have enough PS3 units ready on launch day for anyone who wants them. My local Best Buy still has not gotten any new XBOX360's in and the thing launched in November. If they manage to do this, I think their cell chip and the blu-ray technology will revolutionize the industry. Imagine being able to purchase a cell chip for your computer. Wouldn't that be wild?

i know what you mean though. the cell has a lot of potential, but with soemthing like 90% of software being written for x86...if it wasnt for game comsoles, id say itanium all over again.

Alright, I'm a huge fan of the PS2 myself. Final Fantasy has always been fantastic; but I am NOT spending $1000 on one. Honestly Sony, if you're trying to beat the Xbox based on "hey look! it's shinier! but it costs..." then I'll have to become a bigger xbox fan than I am, find someone who owns a PS3 and a new Final Fantasy game and make a new friend.

well... the fact final fantasy is going xbox360 also doesnt help sony. that leaves what? metal gear solid....

I would be will to pay maybe at most $400 for one. Perfereably 300 though.

Im not going to buy it. Not for that price, thats outrageous. I have a ps2 but i never touch it anymore, im more into comp games now:D . I may buy it in a few years though when it only costs $200 lol.
