I have the alpha or the beta version of it.....

My cousin works in a PC magazine company..so he was given to test it out n give a review of it.. so he gave it to me..and i can tell u it looks GOOD!!!

XP is actually working good now. Take away the IE 6 crap and XP is even better. Now we are going to have to do it all over again in the next few years.

Beta test for MS over and over that is.

im just curious to try it out maybe ill check for a leaked copy so i can try it out on my spare HD see if it will be worth the buy or not
I'm really considering picking it up. I've heard good things so far, but maybe I'll wait a couple of weeks for TAC guys to pick it up and give me a review :D
the gui looks neat, 64 bit supposrt would be nice(not real happy about having to run a 32bit emulator for older games though), and dx10 would be nice...i think ill probably hold of 6-12 months, give it some time to mature, before i start thinking about swapping over.

this always happens!!!!

you get a brand new comp and then one or two years later its out of date!!

so you spend more $$ keeping it up to date!!

not to mention monthlyy, or weekly, or daily!!.... updates for windows, spywars and norton and all the like!!!!

its not till november man, and even that is tentative(not to mention accidently leaked so it may be later just for that reason)
yeah, they say 2gb and dual core is looking like a must for it too. i believe i heard it was to be the first where the desktop is fully rendered by the video card now (since it went vector). so yeah, if you think XP is a resource hog... dont expect your computer to be any faster.
It looks alot better than xp and more secure but i didnt get to play with long, 1 day ;)

I have an MSDN membership - I see it out there but haven't tried it. Should I? Maybe I'll install it this weekend on Virtual PC and see how it runs. I'm sure there will be a lot of incompatibility.

I would go with Win 64 first. That would kick your PC in the pants if your system is compatible and you can find correct drivers and software patches.

windows 64??? haven't heard of it...you think its much better performance

wise?

It's Windows XP 64bit. Current Windows uses 32bit processing architecture. 64bit CPUs with applcations that are designed for 64bit processing running on a 64bit OS should do very well performance wise. Note that most apps today including many games are not designed for 64bit though. I would think that since Win64 has been out longer than Vista that it would be fairly stable. Vista will probably have more stability issues and even more incompatibility issues.

hmmm. my cpu is 64 but it also enables 32 bit so i get the best of both worlds...perhaps i should check this xp64 out a little more see what benefits it posesses
