Glad they don't grow em like that in Canada.

I remember when I was in San Diego though and they had some large bugs down there, big orange and green helicopter looking things. :(

I think this guy has the clock spider beat. I forgot to mention that that is a little camel spider. My friend who served in iraq has brought back pictures of ones that they shot with their M16's, and one of them had an 11" legspan.

I've seen pictures of the camel spiders. They are soo gross!

Well down here in TX....we deal with the Brown Recluse quite a bit....pretty bad what it can do to your skin!

The first link contains images of the spider itself (also called a fiddle back)

The second link is an example of the wound it causes...

Dont listin to him.

Oh, and i looked up what "poptart" ment...it makes me want to change my name because i do NOT act like this...

1. A stereotypically ditzy, preppy sort of girl (usually in high school) concerned with little more than how long it'll take her nails to dry.

2. Any obvious fan of bubblegum pop music.

3. A stupid girl. usually a big druggie who cannot make good choices.

4. A real super hottie;super sexy person <Ok, ok....i will admit that one does describe me.

Umm, that dude let that brown recluse bite get way out of hand, my buddy got bit by one in basic, and he had about a dime sized scar on his elbow where get got bit, granted the US Army's medical ability far surpasses anything else in the world, that guy let it get so bad he needed skin grafting, that is BAD.

CLOCK SPIDER!!!!!

Limecat fought bravely, he did. <nodnod>

The two are to be forever locked in battle...There is no victor.

It also depends on how your body deals with venom...some people react differently than others. My buddy got bit and it just swelled. I had two of my athletes get bit at home while sleeping and they both necratized in 3 or 4 days. It gets pretty bad. Some people avoid hospital visits at all costs, thats the whole problem. I deal with these spiders every year because they love to live in your closets and under all your sinks. Its harder to identify them than the black widow and so they are a little more dangerous in my book.
:) those are big spiders, yikes I wouldn't want to see one of those in real life. Pics and videos are good enough for me.

Black widows have that tell-tale hourglass on their rumpus. Brown recluses, the little buggers, are a little harder to distinguish...so I just kill 'em all if they're small enough to not go "splat" and make that squishy sound when I crunch 'em. In fact, come to think of it......

For a class of mine, we had to gather 60 different organisms, all with varying traits--dicot flowers, edible plants, etc.--and one of those was a spider (zero credit if it was venomous). Now, I've seen brown recluses before, and I know that they tend to be the size of a quarter or so. Naturally, to get a good grade, I was on the lookout for each and every different organism I could find.

I digress...one day, I spotted this TINY spider--not even the size of a dime--and played with it for a little bit on a notebook. Come find out it was a brown recluse....but it didn't look like one. I was baffled...but we killed it 'cuz it was venomous.

ANYWAY, this is where it gets interesting... The day after that, I'm in the garage--where we keep the food for muh doggie--and I walk over to this one corner--where the dog food is. All of a sudden, this HUMONGOUS spider--easily the size of two half-dollars put side by side--drops in front of me. I jump out of my skin about 3 feet backward and stare at the thing--it was a brown recluse, too!! Needless to say, I about-faced and said "I'm not getting full credit for this assignment."

Anyway..if you read that, I commend you. It was kinda pointless, I'm just bored~

:) i cant read all that..its to long

My brother in law died from a brown recluse spider. He obviously didn't go to have the bite treated. It bit him in the upper thigh area. By the time my sister noticed it, and took him to the hospital it was too late. He ended up going into a coma, and then died 3 days later. :) My sister said the site was absolutely gross. According to the doctor, he was allergic to the venom, and it started shutting down his system, and poisoned him. I'm not normally afraid of spiders, but i don't mess with them . I see one i just crunch it or smoosh it.
