Posted June 17, 200619 yr i know this topic was posted before, but do any of you guys paintball? I think wheat does along with parts. Im asking because my friend got me hooked on it. So i went out and bought a 98 custom with ACT and a response trigger. I also have a flatline barrel. do any of the paintballers out there have tips on helping the new guy live longer on the field :warning:
June 17, 200619 yr i have an A5 with E-Grip. I need to get a new barrel though, the stock one on full auto doesnt do well. and a tip: camp.
June 17, 200619 yr Author I was looking into an A5 butit was just too much money for me to spend :\ are you more of a camper bo?
June 17, 200619 yr Duck. Work in teams of 3. Supress, advance, flank. It's silly to go frontal today with the so called "Semi autos that fire Full auto" I prefer to play PB that is limited to true semi's where technology is not winning the battle. No electronic triggers is waht I am saying. The Flatline is not that good from what I heard. It has pros and cons but more cons than anything. Staying alive is dependent on what you are playing. Outdoors, speedball, structures like villages.
June 17, 200619 yr Author well where i went, it was mainly outdoors. thats why i got the tippmann/flatline setup. when i was playing i had to use a rental spyder and by all means it was good for a beginner. but as the day progressed i saw most of my shots falling well below where i was aiming. i got kinda annoying because i was wasting so much premium paint my friend let me use just walking the paintballs in. on the flatline, if it isnt really working do you have any barrel manufacturer suggestions?
June 17, 200619 yr < Model 98......... I agree with Macgyver.... I can't afford the big guns nor can I afford the paint involved. Technology pretty much runs the show at most paintball fields. I have been on quite a few though where it is primarily younger people that play. These fields are great because they usually won't have a killer gun. Tips to stay alive: Don't be reckless. Sometimes I get impatient and rush. 75% of the time this gets me killed. However if it is 5 vs 1 a calculated rush by the 5 individuals is not only lethal but fun. Play as if the guns are real but keep in mind you won't die. This usually helps to make smarter decisions. I know if it were war I would make some calculated decisions. Scream!!! Communication on teams is critical. If used before people die off you will win much faster. Have fun. My favorite fields are: A wooden castle surrounded by woods. Larger than average speedball field with wood structures.
June 17, 200619 yr Tear drop's are good. http://paintball.com/reviews/detail.cfm?id=397 http://www.scubatoys.com/store/Paintball_Barrels.asp
June 17, 200619 yr Author when i played we were playing with litle kids that had super nice guns so they really didnt listen to the people who knew what they were doing  i would usually go up the middle and see if anyone needed help. but with the little kids on the sides i was usually flanked and taken out. i love woodsball and want to try out scenario, so im looking for a stock, remote line and harness. also mac whats the difference between a 1 piece and a 2 piece barrel apart from the obvious :warning: i mean is there a performance increase with the multi piece barrels?
June 17, 200619 yr Flip I have the same gun but with a few mods... most important one is the cylone feed adapter for the 98... trust me... its worth every dollar(around $90). keeps you're Paintballs from chopping and allows you to carry up to 220 rnds with the stock hopper or 340 with a high capacity one (about $10)
June 17, 200619 yr 2 piece barrels allow you to custom fit the barrel to the conditions of the balls. They expand and contract with heat and humidity changes. Plus they vary from mfgr to mfgr. This allows you to get the best accuracy by matching the barrel to the pb.
June 17, 200619 yr Author white-nine thats why my gun has the anti-chop technology thing on it :warning: mac thanks you have been very helpful, if im ever on the other side of the country we should get together and have a little game
June 17, 200619 yr Skirmish USA is an hour away. It is the best and largest place to play in the world.
June 17, 200619 yr white-nine thats why my gun has the anti-chop technology thing on it :warning: yea but with this you'll never need a halo hopper or really any battery powered hopper. plus you never get a ball jam in the neck of the hopper.

June 17, 200619 yr Author oh ya nine i have few mods :\ im thinking about a car stock for my marker. :warning:
June 17, 200619 yr I play occasionally with my Tippmann A-5 with a Teardrop barrel. It's most fun when objectives are set, like "Team A defends this" and "Team B attacks that". I had a friend in high school who had a huge field (when I say huge, I don't mean a football field. I mean it'll take 25 minutes to walk from one side to the other) to play in, with three barns. We had one team defend a barn, while the other attacked from a distance. Only tips I have are to not be selfish, help your teammates when possible, and keep low. Cover is your friend, and don't be afraid to dive behind a boulder/tree. At long distance, remember to arc your shots. In the game mentioned above, one kid with an Angel, who was pretty far away, was shooting a friend of mine behind a bush, so I held my gun at an angle and fired about six shots, two hitting him in the face and the other four missing. Another tip: Don't adjust your velocity too high if you want to remain somewhat accurate. Too much will make your paintballs curve at weird angles, and too little will cause it to drop too soon. Experiment with some trees or something in the woods and find the right velocity for you. Oh, and if you have sights, they don't work too well, so just fire FPS style ;D
June 18, 200619 yr Author FPS style hmmm :warning: damn if only i could bring my bf2 skills to paintball. oh wait i have none unless you count running into things and people teamkilling them all
June 18, 200619 yr one tip tho... if you come across a mine... dont move, most are like Bouncing betty's and will trigger when you stepp off of it. last time I just kept my foot there and dug around it, then whipped it into a bunker rofl!
June 18, 200619 yr Author i actually set up my x chamber and flatline last night. still need money for the harness/pods, remote, and stock. its gonna take awhile to get the money but then ill be good to go
