I just watched Italy and Australia soccer game and that penalyy kick at the end I think was a bad call.

I think the Australian was going for the ball and just protecting his head out of instinct and the Italian fell over him.

you are absolutely right....time and time again i find myself thinking im watching olympics...high DIVE...gymnastics...etc..no offense to you italians out there as i am 1/4 italian...but man if they'd stop playing like fairies and play like men the amount of talent on that team they should have demolished australia..and yeah terrible call..clutching at straws and he got one...australia deserved to win they played better,harder and with more heart

Well most of its the new rules with fifa, in one game I forget which but the officiator gavfe out 4 red cards and 13 yellow, if you watch soccer or play, that is a unheard of number, nearly inconcebable. (sorry for the spelling erorrs lol).

Portugal Vs Holland = terrible game....portugal won and deserved to win but the ref was power tripping...thank god thats the only game he gets

Sixteen yellows to be exact, but either way, that was a horrible game. The game was rough and physical, but to have that many cards thrown out was ridiculous. And then here in the Switzerland vs Ukraine match, there was a total of one yellow card. FIFA can't seem to find a happy medium with the cards.

 

On topic of the Italy vs Australia match...

 

What an obvious dive! The slide tackle comes early, the Italian player looks to go around, but then decides to drag his left foot down to make contact with the Australian player on the ground, thus justifying his dive to the ground. Maneuvers like that deserve immediate red cards, as it falsifies and drags the game way down. This entire World Cup in Germany I've seen countless dives, some without contact at all.

 

Although the games have rejuvenated my interest in soccer (football for the Europeans), I just can't stand to watch teams striving to act for fouls. Toss the stretcher and play right - no Oscars are being handed out.

The first red card to Italy was not applicable and the Spainnish referee give advantage to Italy penalty for to recover his mistake...
