July 29, 200619 yr Author the only thing about laptop is KEEP them tiddy and clean so they can run at tip top as they don't have the muscle of desktops. other than that, WOOT  agreed, first thing i did was disable the 20 some apps on startup i love it though, ive tried killing it with a game, but so far i have had no luck. F.E.A.R. i have 57fps on max settings. i want to tweak it now considering the go 7900 GS is just a downclocked version of the 7900GTX. considering the GPU in this, it still runs cooler than my compaq with an amd 64 3000+ with a geforce 440 go. So i think i have some leverage on the cooling system in this laptop. as for the cpu, i want to mess with it a little more, but im scared!
July 30, 200619 yr Author by the way, im looking for a portible tv turner. so if anyone knows anything about quality recording, can you point me to a good expresscard or USB2.0 tv tuner card?
July 30, 200619 yr Author oh yeah its definatly pci-e... i wouldnt of gone near the thing if it was using legacy connections. As you can see by the specs below, it is using the g71 core, with downclocked memory, 4 disabled pipelines (still is 24 of them though), and 1 disabled vertex shader. if anything, i want to be able to mess with it when the next wave of games comes out, right now it runs everything maxed out and its not really required. ive oced my compaq laptop with a desktop amd 64 3000+ cpu, but the video card wasnt worth touching. nVidia GeForce Go 7900 GS: Manufacturer: nVidia Series: GeForce 7 GPU: G71M Release Date: 2006-04-18 Interface: PCI-E Core Clock: 375 MHz Memory Clock: 500 MHz (1000 DDR) Memory Bandwidth: 32 GB/sec Shader Operations: 7500 Operations/sec Pixel Fill Rate: 6000 MPixels/sec Texture Fill Rate: 6000 MTexels/sec Vertex Operations: 656.25 MVertices/sec Noise Level: ?
