One of our officers 19 yr old son died Sat. These kids apparently were at a party and drinking. Supposedly one male youth borrowed this girls car and was driving it. Well, the driver was going at a high rate of speed, and went airborn into a tree. There was supposed to be 3 people in the car. The driver and another kid supposedly got out of the car, and left the 19 yr old in the back seat. The accident occurred around 3am. The driver of the car called the girl who owned the vehicle and told her he crashed her car. The girl then called us and reported the car stolen. At approximately 7:30 AM they found the car and the 19 yr old was dead in the back seat. Until the autopsy report comes back, no one knows if he died immediately or sometime after. His friend left him for 4 1/2 hrs. before help arrived. :D

Our officer didn't even know until he was sitting in briefing and the chief came down and told him. :D This is the 3rd tragedy this man has suffered. The driver of the car turned himself in, and charges are pending the autopsy. He was charged for leaving the scene of a fatal accident, and is being held on $5000 bail. He comes from a upper class family so he had no problem getting the money to get out.

Here is another sad case of driving while intoxicated. This young mans life is ruined and a life has been lost because of alcohol. The young man might have gotten a DWI, but at least his friend would be alive today. This just makes me more adament about NOT drinking and driving. I won't even get in the car after drinking one drink. Please dont drink and drive, be responsible.

Good message, don't drink and drive.

It's just pure stupidity. What are you thinking?

My sympathy to the officer and the family.

very tragic. People say they dont drink and drive and yet they still do it. Very stupid indeed. At least I very rarly drink and if I do its only 1 or 2....I just dont like getting drunk, its not much fun for me.

in other words.....boy can't handle his liquor
are you implying that those of us who do have drinks are idiots????

Yes we are especially if we drive whilst drinking.
are you implying that those of us who do have drinks are idiots????

im implying that those who get drunk and into a car are idiots obviously. What exactly does getting drunk prove to anyone???That you can hold your liquor???And why is this getting off topic? this has nothing to do with me and my drinking habits, I just know that I wont be getting into my car drunk

its not to prove anything to anyone...most people drink to relieve any stresses as it allows ones mind to work more openly with less conscience....also some things are alot more tolerable when one is drinking...such as entertainment or poor company....i don't drink because i think i can hold my liquor better than the next guy ( even though i know i can)

Very sorry to hear of this tragic event that apparently did not have to happen. I am with ICE 10 on this one, I rarely drink. My prayers go to both families.

I can't help but wonder what the hell were they thinking leaving their friend to die. Assuming he was still alive after the accident.

It is very stupid to get behind the wheel of a car after having one drink, even if it's several hours after you've finished drinking it.

Drunk driving accidents are one of the major causes of deaths for teenagers in this country. It's sad that we had to lose another young soul in such a tragic way...

Once again, my prayers are being sent to the officer and his family.

if i drink (which i rarely do) i dont drive at all for a considerable time..

a needless loss and one for which my heart goes out to his family and himself

that is one thing i hate. drunk drivers. they should have their license revoked if they get caught. im sorry to hear about it wolfey. :D
I am 39 years in a few days and since i can think i never drunk and then drove a car. So much bad things can happen then. The People which are doing that should see, what could happen. I remember some photos that someone showed us in the school. Its was the badest stuff i saw so far. DONT DRINK AND DRIVE.

Its a never ending story, can they still charge the SOB with DWI after that time frame...................the law would suprise us all. This summer has been a sad one. Sorry for the loss.

No they cant charge him with DWI now. ;) :D There are other charges pending though.
My thoughts and prayer to the officer and the family. My cousin's life was taken by a drunk driver too, and because of it I really hate it when people drink and drive. If I drink I'm not driving now will I get behind the wheel of my car and drive drunk. I rather walk home or stay at a friends place. And if others are drinking then I wont so I can be the DD and drive everyone home safely.
It's sad to hear someone being killed because they were drinking and driving or someone else who was. Out here in NY we have extremely high penalties for DWI and DUI some of the 1st penalties are suspension and/or fines around or over $500. Anyways if u are stupid enough to drink and drive i believe u should have ur license revoked not suspended but that is my opinion

Sypathies to the officer and his family. It's unfortunate, and I've all to often saw similar scenes in my line of work. Please people, don't drink and drive, it's not worth the potential harm you can cause yourself, your family, or someone else and/or their family.. Think. DD's are your best friends...
