September 9, 200619 yr Well, forgive me if I'm a little harsh on this one. It's too bad that we have to waste tax payers money on him. Everyone knows he did it, and he admits it. So, what's the sense in having a trial? He talked the talk, but couldn't walk the walk. All his big talking about how he was not going to surrender, and the little baby walks out of the woods with his hands up. He was surrounded and wasn't getting out of it. The only good thing about this was that nobody else got hurt. Too bad they couldn't have blasted him and saved the tax payers some money. Sorry, i know thats cold but in my opinion it would have been for the best. Updated: 1:17 a.m. ET Sept 9, 2006 CARROLL, N.Y. - A fugitive suspected of fatally shooting a New York state trooper and wounding two others while on the run for more than five months surrendered to police who had cornered him in a field just over the Pennsylvania border Friday night. Ralph "Bucky" Phillips walked out with his hands up, ending the state's largest manhunt for the 44-year-old career thief who broke out of a Buffalo-area jail in April, New York State Police Investigator Gary Colon said. The arrest capped a frantic day of searching that included troopers firing at Phillips earlier in the day as he dodged authorities in a wooded area For hours, police had methodically moved closer to Phillips. Just before nightfall, 25 SWAT officers and 12 dogs swept through a field where he was thought to be hiding. He gave himself up around 8 p.m., police said. A few of my guys had spotted him in an open field, the helicopter zeroed in on him, said Lenny DePaul, commanding officer of the U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force. He did not know what condition Phillips was in. Phillips was being taken to a jail in Buffalo the same one he broke out of and was to be arraigned Saturday morning. He faces a charge of attempted murder in connection with the shooting of a state trooper on June 10. Phillips, who had threatened suicide by cop and once promised to splatter pig meat all over Chautauqua County, was on the FBI 10 Most Wanted list. Dead-ends and a high-speed chases Since his escape, he has twisted and turned his way throughout southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania, eluding a huge manhunt, stealing cars, burglarizing homes and camps and relying on a network of acquaintances to stay free, police said. He may have stolen 41 guns from a New York gun shop, authorities said. AP The search for Ralph "Bucky" Phillips was one of the largest in New York history. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday's search started shortly before 2 a.m. in Pennsylvania when a police officer tried to pull over a stolen car. After a short chase, the car crashed and the driver, identified by police as Phillips, fled into the woods. A half-hour later, Phillips stole a second car and drove back into New York, where troopers located him and launched a second chase, authorities said. Phillips jumped out of the moving car and ducked into woods, zigzagging back and forth between New York and Pennsylvania, authorities said. Police dogs tracked his scent for several hours until he was spotted by two troopers, Bennett said. As troopers approached, Phillips wheeled around with a pistol in his hand but did not fire, police said. One of the troopers fired an undisclosed number of shots as Phillips disappeared into the thick woods. Phillips became the subject of a huge search after allegedly shooting a state trooper near Elmira in June. The trooper survived. Then, authorities said, he ambushed and shot two New York state troopers on Aug. 31 as they staked out the home of Phillips former girlfriend. One trooper died on Sunday; the other was in critical condition.
September 9, 200619 yr wow, I agree wolfey people like that shouldnt have the right to exist, but on the bright side at least he was caught and is no longer a threat to society.
September 9, 200619 yr I am with you on that one Wolfey. It is a total waste of taxpayers money, why don't they just have a firing squad, or hang his sorry ass! The problem is the criminal has too many rights and the law abiding citizen has less and less.

September 10, 200619 yr and IMHO, once you commit a Serious crime, you forgo your right to rights if that makes sense... its the same in england, moreso infact with the european Farce of human rights.. means that the criminals DO have more rights than we do, are prisons are akin to a freaking 5 star hotel..... seriously
September 15, 200619 yr I believe one should expect back whatever they do unto others. This requires a tougher judicial system like we used to have long ago. To make some think twice, that have no morals or religious considerations. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, life for a life, etc.
September 15, 200619 yr Author Bring him to Texas!! We'd put him in the express lane to execution. Yeah, i wish! Anyways, there were some people that were questioning why the troopers didn't just blast him. But, who would want to risk everything for a little revenge? Too many witnesses around to do it. But i do believe that what goes round comes round. Eventually he will get his in some way, shape or manner.
September 15, 200619 yr Yeah, i wish! ....But i do believe that what goes round comes round. Eventually he will get his in some way, shape or manner. Yea, probably via his new boyfriend, "Bubba"... TFD

But he had been bouncing around so they didn't know where to look. They had the house staked out where his daughter lived, but to no avail. No specific team sent.
