This is so simple you might just say " oh ya, wow".

Every birthday until just a while ago my grandmother (96) would cook me my favorite meal and give me a gift and that to me now is seeming more precious than anything I could possibly get.

She is getting very frail now and will be moving into a seniors home since having her left leg amputated at the knee about a month ago so that is why the realization of how precious that was to me.

For your info, I don't know what seniors homes are like in the U.S. but in Canada ,or at least here in THunder Bay, they are very well run and like a home. They have their own apartment and it's like being at home but they have nurses and workers all day long there. Of course that goes if you can afford it which she/we can.

Just wanted to clarify that so you don't think we are shipping her off to a lousy flea bitten dump of a rest home. LOL. O.K. I am rambling now and don't want this moved to the Outhouse.

P.S. don't tell anyone Klink has a heart. :D

the best i ever received was this laptop that was a graduation gift from my parents about 2 and a half years ago that i'm still appreciating every day
the birthday before my granddad died he gave me a pewter tankard... i treasure it.
Ive never got a cool birthday gift well maby i got a guitar for one of my birthdays:D
I dont think i have ever had a "best" gift, they are all pretty much equal

Well, this is going to be a short story, but I have to tell it for it to make sense. Every since I could talk, I wanted a Motorcycle. When I was 2, I was riding a 20 inch bicycle, I had to use an old kitchen chair to start off (because I couldn't reach the ground) and just jump off in the grass to stop. My Dads brother (Jim) was killed on a motorcycle on Thanksgiving Day 1971. (whom I am named after) Therefore, My Dad always told me I would never be getting a motorcycle as long as I was living in his house. Well I guess I wore him down, every time he asked me what I wanted for Christmas or my birthday my response was alway "a motorcycle." On my 13th birthday I came home from school, and my Dad wasn't home, I was bummed because he was usually home when I got there. He pulled up in his pickup about 5:00 pm with a brand new 1985 Honda XR100R dirt bike that he had driven 4 hours to Phoenix to get, in the back. Dude I cried like a baby.

That was the coolest thing I have ever gotten for a birthday gift.

Awsome story Cleatus :D .

Hmm.. getting my college paid for was deffinitly a huge gift from my parrents for my 18th birthday. Didn't really get anything else, but since my mom just got a new job (pays quite well) it's enough to pay for my college :D .

Other than that I love stuff relating to PC's and gaming consoles. Always make a good gift, hehe.

the best bday gift was being able to make it home from the Army and seeing my fam and being ok

Roger that, I hope all our boys and girls come home safe.

birthdays... i dont even remember what my last one was like >.<

but, i did receive a totally awesome present for Christmas 4 years ago.

yeah, it was a real surprise. i had been begging for a new dog since months before Christmas, because i knew Mandy was getting old. i said to my mom almost everyday, "Mom, i want another dog, so that i will have one when Mandy goes". so... my mom and i talked to my dad, and he said no.

so come Christmas morning, i see this box. it was very light. i was like... "is this a LEGO set or something? some socks?"

i opened it up, and low and behold, inside it i found a picture of my new dog. that morning we drove out to ... i think it was a county called "Apple", to pick up my new puppy.

>.>

noone needs to know i can say the word cute.

I said computer (but it was my second best present) only because sex wasn't listed :D

Ummm good question, I never really wanted anything big because I knew my parents couldn't afford much but I was happy with what ever I got especially if it had anything to do with tigers and cats. :D

But I must say the best thing I ever bought for myself is my very own first car which I worked very hard for and saved up for. I'm very proud of myself because I paid for it all, I don't own anything for it or anyone for that matter. :D I paid cash. I got everything included and it came to $3500 cnd. :D I should also mention the sticker price was 3700 and that wasn't including everything like plates, safety etc.

And here he is. :D My baby :D Got it July 17/06. :D

thats awsome... i had an XR100R for a while lol, what fun

Yes, I voted for a vacation or a trip to somewhere. And I do get a trip next week when W9 and I go out of town for the weekend...(REALLY lookin forward to getting away from "the norm" for a few days!)

Another reason I said "vacation" is because for my 10th birthday my parents took me up to Niagara Falls for a full weekend. It was one of the best birthdays I've ever had.

This year's gonna be a little rough for me(my bday's comin up on the 10th) and it'll be my first birthday to be celebrated without my dad being here. It's still kind of hard to believe at sometimes that he's gone even though I know he's here in spirit. But, I'm going to try to not get too down about it because knowing him he would yell at me if I'm sad all day on my birthday and I don't enjoy it to its fullest. I also have to listen to one of the best pieces of advice he'd ever given me:

"Don't ever mix your drinks. Pick one type of drink for the night and stick with it. You won't have too bad of a hangover if you don't mix your drinks."

Yeah, my dad was one of the cool guys...

Well, I have 2 memorable birthday presents. In 2000, I bought an airplane ticket to celebrate my birthday and my mothers. My moms was on Nov. 23 and mine is Nov. 24th. She didn't know I was coming so it was definitely a great B-day gift for both of us. I remember the joy on her face when I walked in the door.

In 2001, I again bought a airplane ticket to go again to Washington State, this time for X-mas. I hadn't spent a X-mas in over 10 years with my family. It was great having the whole family together one last time. My mother passed away in 2002, so I am very thankful of the time I was able to go visit, and surprise her.

Anything very thoughtful. It's the thought that counts, especially from our loved one. :D

:D
